Good Reviews Panasonic SC-PT-75 and SC-PT160
« on: Aug 16, 2010 at 07:49 PM »
Anyone know of this unit? Its offered by Panasonic worldwide under different model numbers.  In Singapore it is the SC-PT75 and here in the Philippines it is the SC-PT160

http://panasonic.com.ph/web/Pid/5970

http://www.testfreaks.co.uk/home-cinema-systems/panasonic-sc-pt160/

seems we got the imports from singapore at 50% off.

Anyone demo this unit or own it yet?

OK..I own this unit now as I got it as a freebie with purchase of new Panny plasma.  I gifted this  unit to my in-law and set it up with her 32 inch Toshiba.  It is just acceptable in terms of quality of sound.  A little weak in the volume department but good enough when turned up to the max.  But it will serve OK as a 5.1 in a small room environment as well as 2 channel stereo.  The receiver/DVD player is good.

hi guys...

just finished installing the scpt 75...since this is my very 1st home theatre, i'm confused with the setting for the ps3 which is connected via opticals.

when i press the surround button from the panny htib remote what should i choose?
standard, multi, etc ect. sa sound mode naman, should i select heavy, clear, soft or flat? what about sa eq, sub level, and c.focus?

sorry kasi this is my 1st encounter with a gadget like this, and it's really intimidating ;)

may dapat pa po ba akong i-DL sa external ko para gumana sya sa home theatre? or talagang hanggang usb lang po ung kaya nya i-read?..

nung bumili ako ng panasonic htib ang nag unlock ung seller mismo. sa theaterworks ko nabili ung tv + htib bundle. after a week me pinapuntang tao si jeff me dalang remote (not similar to the remote included sa htib), the unit was unlocked in less than 10 minutes.
you might wanna ask the seller to unlock if for you ;D

Hi Anya... yes, ganyan din ang offer sa akin. Sabi ng tao dun sa store, punta nalang daw sya house namin sa day-off nya ang sya nalang daw mag uunlock with a "special remote". The thing is, he's asking for a "minimal fee". Kasi kapag pinaunlock ko daw sa Panasonic mismo, P2500 daw ang singil. Sa kanya, 50% discount daw. Hmmm... parang may mali diba? Kasi I bought the unit na from them so dapat free na rin magpaunlock.

Anya, yung sa iyo ba nagbayad ka nung pina unlock mo?

***by the way, I bought the HTIB @ Gadgets In Style in Trinoma.

Passed by this shop too while I was hunting for a Bluray Player. Same spiel. They can unlock the player for a fee. I said that other retailers do this for free. Didn't buy na lang when they will not budge with the fee.

Try mo alukin ng ninoy baka pumayag. ;D

Ugh... mukhang ganun nga... may sinasabi pa syang "minimal 50% discount fee". Anyways, hindi naman big deal yung pagunlock para maging region free since  I use mostly R3 DVDs lang naman... but then mas maganda na rin kung region free. Hehe.  :D

Baka may kilala kayo na marunong without a fee.... haha. I'm such a cheapo!  ;D

Uhm..... noob question... Ano bang advantage kapag pinaregion free yung dvd-player? I mean, right now naman I can still watch my DVDs and DVD-Rs (mostly are the you-know-whats at Quiaps, haha) so wala pa naman akong issues with it.

The guy from the store texted me to confirm if I still want it to be unlocked... isip ko pa kung papaunlock ko for a "fee". Kailangan pa ba?

Thanks!

If you are playing bootlegs lang, you should be fine. Pero kung meron kang nabili/nahingi/nabigay sayo na original DVDs from US, Europe, and other countries na hindi region 3, you can't play them in your HTIB unless its region free.

Ah, ok.. got it. Yep. Mostly bootlegs lang... hehe. Tama! If ever it's not region 3 naman, we have another player in the house that is region-free so dun ko nalang papanoorin. I got it na. Hindi ko na papa-unlock. Hehe.

Thanks, gunslinger!  ;D

"another disadvantage of this htib it doesnt decode dts..huhuhu"

is this true mga sir? kasi meron ganito parents ko. nung tinry ko yung xtreamer ko, wala ngang output yung DTS pero sa LCD display nung dvd/receiver naka indicate yung DTS which i assume na nababasa nya yun.

then i checked http://www.panasonic.com.my/web/pid/8633/Spec meron naman daw.

ano kaya talaga? ??? ???

The SC-PT75 has DTS decoding otherwise walang sound na lalabas. Can't just find any hack to unlock it unless you have a special remote, khameleon-6 ata.
