harman kardon 160 paired with B&W 685
« on: Sep 13, 2011 at 10:13 PM »
Got these pair last week from Mark of AVSHOP....
Listening to music everyday with the Bowers is amazing!
I'm no expert but i can listen for hours  in any kind of music without strains.

Thanks to Mark and James for the patience in making me listen to all their available
speakers( Polk, Monitor audio infinity...)

all are great speakers but for me it's the B&W. :)

Hi tormentor,

I noticed in your signature, your also using the 685 and the CM1, how does the CM1 compare to the 685. Kamusta ang bass response ng CM1 vs the 685 ?.  I know the CM1 has a hump around 60 hz does the 685 show the same response ?

685 is imho still the best entry level speakers.  :)

Dependent sa room yung peak nya usually. Most B&Ws have a big peak at around 100Hz (para sa impact), and another peak (often smaller) at around 10kHz (para dun sa sparkly details) sa anechoic measurement, whether FS or BS (kasama na siguro sa signature "house sound" nila). Yung 685 lang nga relatively maliit yung apparent hump sa ranges na yan, kasi mas litaw yung midrange nya than most other B&W models.

Consumer B&Ws almost never measure near flat out of the box, if you're after measured numbers. I don't think it's a priority for them. I suppose they put more weight on tuning/development by ear.

Eto pseudo-anechoic results ng dalawang speakers na yan:

CM1

685

Obviously mas maganda ang dispersion characteristics ng CM1, yung 685 naman mas maganda ang bottom end extension.

This would make an interesting comparison, both have peaks in the bass region at different frequencies.

I have heard the CM1 vs the 805 and the CM1 has a lot more bass due to the peak.
