Completely understood.
Just a question thou if I may - since the sub is basically at the back of the setup and firing towards it - did it cause any changes in sonics compared if it didnt have the setup in front of it?
Master Mards,
I'm not that particular with HT audio quality, as long as it's fairly acceptable. Since the sub's output is not directional, it's not much of an issue for me. I'm sure it changed things a tiny bit (maybe like placing an irregularly-shaped grille), but I still prefer it over a downfiring layout. But then again, that's just me. It's just much easier to predict the response of a sub or a speaker with (a) direct firing driver/s, so I stayed with that (less anomalies). Many people fire drivers or ports to the floor or to the backwall, and that's ok because many subs are desiged to work that way. This sub was built to very basic specifications, with only the room's major modes (based on computation, not measured with an RTA or an SPL meter) factored into the desired response. No final measurement or equalization was done, so it banks largely on guesstimates and some math.
