every trip to graceland is always worthwhile, more than anything else, becasue I get the chance to share some good laughs and stories with fellow SVS lovers and HT enthusiasts. earlier it was all fun and laughter with macdon, stickfigther, vtec3(good to see you again sir
) jojod818, yes the famous tube and ss amp builder now delving in HT and later in the day ryan750 a very young DIYer.
I had a couple of reasons for going to graceland, one is to check out on the STS 02 and the other to check out on another SVS product. Several genres of music were played by mike c with the SB12NSD activated alongside the STS 02. My impression on the SB12 will be posted on the SVS subwoofer thread.
Right off the bat, what strikes me is the HF side of the STS 02. This is probably the best I heard in quite a while in this department. In any type of music genres, this speaker impressed me a lot. Music sounds livelier and is very dynamic. I have heard several speakers with HF that kills my ears but this one is not, i usually put my ears closely to the tweeter everytime i listen to a speaker but this one I could probably afford to do this while listening to the whole song. On the bottom end, this may not trample the big guys out there but heck, thats the reason why you have the SVS sub. Saying the aforementioned though does not take away any luster on the bottom end of the STS 02. I still find them sufficient and enough to fulfill my needs in pure audio listening without the sub.
if theres anyone out there who takes into account physical appearance in considering a speaker, STS 02 stands out with some of the best, very minimalist design, very solidly built and the grill cover alone would make me salivate. It stands like a ramp model with its slender built. Whats nice, its sealed so for those that has placement challenge, you can place it very near the front wall without any issues usually present in rear ported speakers.
as much as i want to dwell on a more technical review and impressions, I just cant wiht my limited knowledge about these. To simplify my impressions, I LIKE IT
