thanks sir, I've thought of that too. I used to have at least 6inches of clearance between my gears, but i just don't have the luxury of space in this room. but I'll be mounting 4 120mm exhaust fans on top of the cabinet and 2 70mm fans for each level. i'll be running the fans on low RPM to minimize the noise. I guess these would be enough to dissipate the heat. if not, then i'll just add more fans.. ;D  thanks again..

Nice DIY shelves and I like the idea of the multiple exhaust fans.  :)
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.

i was having problems with my system, the dvd player jumps/hangs when ever there are scenes with high LFE. i initially thought that the problem was a defective dvd, but i started to notice that it happens to all the dvd's i have. and it was also happening to my music cd's using my dedicated cdp while playing base heavy tracks. and i also noticed that it only happens when my subs are on and the volume is high. so i tried to use an i-pod as a player, crank up the volume and see if the problem persists. and it doesn't. so there's the culprit, my players are affected by the vibration from the sound.  this was hard for me to believe as i tried to make the rack for my players as rigid as i possibly could when i built it.

The solution: DIY dvdp/cdp isolation plank

used 1"x12" yakal plank (very heavy) and blu tack
