gagana ba sya as a media player kahit wala USB dongle, parang regular xtreamer din? or needed talaga mag-boot from USB dongle?

if you're talking about the usb ir para sa mini-keyboard, yeah meron syang kasamang (usb) cable for recharging the battery of the mini-kb. actually, hindi siya IR kundi bluetooth (i think) kasi di mo na need ng line of sight para gumana.

may nakapag-install na ba using Windows 7 64 bit any feedback? may lag ba sa pag-play ng mga 1080p videos? especially when accessing LAN?

i did install win 7 professioanl x64 edition and using the latest release of xbmc for movie playback. so far so good on playing 1080p mkv video (avatar) from the internal hard disk (5400rpm) I installed. i did try one time accessing a 720p video episode of a tv series via wireless (my router's max is only 54MBps) and it does hiccup sometimes.

Bumping this question up. :)

@ plapoy: ultra is an htpc system. the usb flash drive that comes with it has the ultraOS (based on ubuntu) that includes xbmc (this is the program/gui used to play the media - music, video, pictures). this system is quite different from nmt's which have their own built-in gui/osd. what's great about ultra is you can customize the gui to your liking. the caveat though is you have to research and study how it is done.

@ Verbl Kint: the answer to your question is: no (at the moment). pls. refer to the following link for the explanation - http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Talk:Using_XBMC. this is in the context of xbmc program.

my main reason in purchasing this device is because my daughter (grade school student) needs a computer to do some research and homework about 2-3 times per week and I am in need of a media player where i use it only during weekends and sometimes late at night. so this device gives us the best of both worlds.  :)

cool yung mini-keyboard with touchpad parang cellphone ang dating may laser pointer and with USB dongle (bluetooth ba connection nito ? gagana kaya wireless mouse dito para makapag-laro ng RPG games?)

im planning to install Windows 7 this week, kabitan ko pa ng laptop harddrive

i mean sir yung mismong external IR sa back panel na may kinakabitang jack? para saan kaya yun?
i already explored the mini-keyboard, nakatago pala yung USB sa side

sir, pag boot ng ultra, diretso sya sa windows 7. so pag gusto na namin manood ng video, i just press the start button on the remote control (it's the button with the windows logo), and it will fire up xbmc. when i exit xbmc, it will go back to win 7.

I can't seem to make the ultra output 5.1 to a yamaha receiver via the optical out.  (I am sure there is no problem with the receiver, it used to pair well with an xtreamer (the first batch) nmt.)

I already did:
 - installed realtek hd audio (i assume surround sound via optical is handled by realtek chip)
 - installed nvdia ion drivers

wala ako makita setting sa windows to configure realtek to output 5.1 puro stereo nakikita ko.

Will installing xbmc (for windows) automatically configure 5.1 sound output?
Do I need to install additional drives?

@chatstix
so you are not using the usb stick to boot anymore? boot from windows 7 then the xbmc that you mention is also xbmc for windows, and not the linux based one that came with the usb stick?

help!

when it's fast it's fast, ~20-30 seconds, but there are instance where it takes a long time... a minute or more.  I don't know whats causing the long boot time though, could be the attached 1TB external drive or other peripherals attached (I've a bluetooth receiver and a wireless N).

The good news is it wakes up fast from standby. So I configured the remote to standby (hibernate) instead of shutting down completely (that is the default).

Is there an access to Bios? You can disable the scanning of usb devices on boot up. That's what I did with my E350 machine. Faster boot up now.

i think if by chance you did not shutdown properly, the next time you boot-up it takes awhile since it is doing a file system check...

+1, Atom naman basta san damakmak memory mo matulin din naman, playback really consumes little CPU anyways. given most graphics subsystems has its own processor.

may nabibili ba nito locally or meron ba nabibili dito na xtreamer ultra accessories like yung IR receiver cable? Ngayun kasi nakalagay sa kabilang kwarto yung Xtreamer Ultra ko with long HDMI cable connected sa LCD TV para di mapakailaman ng mga kids yung mga nakakabit na harddrives, then i am just using the keyboard wireless to control the ultra, medyo may konting lag lang sa pag-control dahil siguro may wall sa pagitan ng computer room and living room
