Recommend Home Theater Setup
« on: Feb 24, 2011 at 11:06 AM »
I'm in the market for a Home Theater Speaker. I am an amateur home theater listener and I need expert recommendations.

I was looking at the polk audio RTi series and i've read good reviews about them. I'm not sure how to mix them up, I would want a 5.1 speaker, most of what it will be doing is 90% Movie 10 % Music. I love sound quality more than bassy boomy sounds, although a good bass for the action will be nice. My budget is going around P50-70,000 for everything -all 4 channels, 1 subwoofer, amp ,etc.

I saw this setup over the internet tell me what you think? I'm not limited to them, suggestions, even other brand recommendations will be appreciated.
Polk Audio RTI A7s for my fronts
Polk Audio CSI A6 Center Channel
RTi-A3s for rears
Polk Audio PSW505 subwoofer
Yamaha RX-V1800

I'll be playing them on a WD HD Media Player thru an optical out.

The Polk Audio setup that you suggested is very good. However the PSW505 is not available in the Philippines; I recommend that you consider the Polk Audio DSW Pro 660 (12 inch sub) or DSW Pro 550 (10 inch sub) as an alternative.

Setup looks good.

Might want to also consider the FX series for your surrounds:

FXi A4

Room is about 60-70 square meter

I'm confident that your speakers of choice can fill that room. However, you might want to look into running dual subs or maybe going for a strong single to excite that airspace.

Are you buying your gear locally?

Room is about 60-70 square meter

This is a huge room. You'll need serious power for the speakers.
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.

If you have a big room, I suggest you consider using the Polk Audio RTi A9 floorstanding.

That's a mean speaker pair. :D

The A6 center and the surround A3s might need to be high-passed at a higher frequency to minimize distortion while filling that room. :) Look for an amp (or amps) and a sub (or subs) that would be up to the task.

Good luck deadlock2004!
