just got my bd550 from avant trinoma. Thanks coastal for the headsup. there are  like 4 units left. pwede rin pala deferred 3mos. 0% interest. kunin nyo na, super sulit ito.

I used a generic coax and it plays good naman. I tried my "Knowing" BD region A and loads it up at probably about 10-20 seconds. i didn't actually time it. but it took a while for the BD menu to show up.

next would be my 1TB ext. HDD. it played Lord of the rings DTSMA smoothly and best of all, the player passed DTSHDMA through DTS core. My issues with the mkv passthrough is over. I'll be able to play dts hdma mkvs on this player.

I got my BD550 last Tuesday. It loads quicker than my CA 650BD, but some BD Live features cannot be viewed because of the lack of dedicated memory.

The unit is quite snappy (among the fastest I've used), and the menu system looks good. The picture is a bit oversaturated for my taste (very strong reds and yellows, green cast on blues and yellowish greens). It could be corrected with some calibration though.

Overall, I'm happy with the low purchase price and the usable feature set. :)

Congrats bro! You need to stick in a flash drive for the BD Live feature, though I've never used it.

Its confirm, the BD550 model here can support hd> 1tb but not for all brand. I manage to use my WD 2tb with no problem.

Hi Guys!

I'm just new here.  :D

I purchased this BD player yesterday.  It's actually my first time to get into Blu-Ray technology as I have been a DVD patron for the longest time.

I tested it with my Dark Knight BD (bought it from a friend for testing) and the pq is definitely top-notch!

However, my problem is that I'm not satisfied with the audio quality.  I have an existing Panasonic DVD/Home Theater system and I use its auxiliary but the sound is less than spectacular.  I also noticed that I have to increase the volume level to 20+ as opposed to watching DVD's at 10-11 max level.

Any tips on how to improve the sound quality?
Can I still use my DVD/Home Theater?

Appreciate your inputs!  Thanks in advance!  :)

HDMI also transmits HD Audio. I think your Panasonic HTIB cannot do justice to the sound capabilities of your Bluray player since it has no "HDMI In" connection.

Coax or optical output of your BD player to your HTIB input could also improve the sound quality instead of using the AUX.
I can stop speaking but I cannot so easily silence my thoughts...

I see. So it's either I get myself a coax or just use the optical output and plug it directly to the HTIB?

Thanks for the tip bro!  :)

i switched batteries pero ganun pa rin. i also though na baka yung IR reciever ng BDp. but the remote won't work with my LG tv as well (may tv control kasi yung BD550 na remote). so ayun, i have to twist the damn thing and press it longer for it to accept any command. on a side note, i have to say na ito lang yung ayaw ko sa BD player na to, very flimsy and cheaply made yung remote >:(

what actually happened bro?hindi ba nabagsak yung remote? or naupuan?
