don't know if this is the right section to ask so please move it in case i'm wrong.

does anyone know how to convert the audio file of a blueray rip (normally mp4) from aac (aac 6 channels) to ac3 or dts? my hd player can decode it but if i want to use my avr, then i have to set my hd player to output stereo and use prologic II in my avr to hear it as 5.1 surround.

i've seen some forums explain it but i can't understand it too well. can someone explain it to me as if i were a 5-year old?

meron yatang software for conversion but you have to buy it. Checked before but most of them will downmix to stereo audio. so, not worth the hassle of converting and lost the surround sound. better watch it as is in Surround mode in your system.

my nmt already downmixes it to stereo and my avr uses prologic II to give me virtual 5.1. pero iba pa rin pag ac3 or dts.

yes! malaki ang kaibahan sa discrete chanels, nawawala ang audio separation. kung gusto mo talaga maganda ang audio avoid this format and stick to DTS or AC3 the least..

It's probably because it's internally decoded (as opposed to passthrough) by your media player and output as PCM.

You can try adjusting the volume on your media player's remote.

There's hardly any AVR that supports AAC so you're getting 2 channel downmixed audio on your files with AAC audio tracks.

I also don't recommend transcoding from one lossy audio codec to another, it will just introduce distortion.

Luckily my media player supports 5.1 AAC decoding so my receiver multi channel PCM streams even if it can't decode AAC tracks on it's own.

that's what i'm doing now pero ang dami kong movies na ganito ang format. also, sometimes meron movies in mp4 na walang ac3 or dts. haaaay....

i was reading somewhere that they demux the audio file, convert it, then remux it using mkv toolnix without having problems. i just don't understand how it was actually done and it why didn't work for me.

Not always, ang importante maganda ang gamit na decoder ng encoder mo. Mas accurate ang reproduction to wave, mas ok ang conversion. Pag maganda ang source, most likely maganda din ang transcoded version. Basta magaling ang transcoder...

Buti nalang yung mga files ko na ganito ay puro halinghing at ire lang with a little bit of frictional sound-effect.

First, demux your video/audio file.

Then, select the audio file using your audio transcoder and select the format you want to transcode it into.

Then, remux the newly transcoded audio file with the video only file outputted when you demux the original video/audio file.

Ganyan ba sir ang ginawa nyo? Usually naman meron instructions yung demuxer (demultiplexer/multiplexer) kung pano ang process. Tapos yung transcoding naman straightforward na, para ka lang nagcoconvert ng cd-audio to mp3.

Pag audio lang usually madali lang, matagal lang pag kasama ang video sa transcoding... seems like forever lalo na kung HD. Kelangan multi-core processor and lots of RAMs hehehe!!! At mas maganda kung 64-bit OS at 64-bit version yung transcoder nyo. It will be night & day difference..

Anyone tried FLAC sa AVR? Mahina ba sound? I'm planning to convert my dvds to MKV 1080P files and gagamitin ko sanang audio is FLAC 7.1 instead of the orig 5.1...  I tried CD to FLAC maganda naman kahit pano hehehe.

Upscale mo ba by software yung video? Many players don't support multichannel flacs, so choose wisely. Why not save the audio as-is na lang without conversion (and let the AVR do the decoding)?

i gave up on this. i just let my avr use prologic II. ok na rin naman wala pang sakit ng ulo.

I don't know whats the problem or wheres the problem. The sound coming from my converted MKV video/Flac Audio is so weak.

The video was upscale thru software, ganun din ung audio. I'm using Mede8er media tank. Do you think it does not support multi-channel flac?
