I would think both chips would require heat sink, to keep it cool, so important is consistent airflow.
I'd bet an NMT with fan would help models regardless of chip you use, just to
push some air through your internal disk drive and other components.
Besides, most of the heat of NMTs come from the internal 3.5" SATA disk, you will notice the difference when you put 2nd disk outside the NMT unit(only if NMTS support both internal and external).
