sige sir erwin hintayin ko review mo ng nba2k11 in 3d ;D thanks

First off, need to update nba 2k11 to 1.3 to enable 3d (once updated, it will have 3d option in the options menu).  You have to manually turn on 3d in options and will be able to adjust 3d intensity and depth.  Once a game is started, pw350 would auto detect the 3d signal.  You would easily notice (compared to ordinary 2d) that players in court "pop out in 3d" but not much 3d depth in the audience background.  I could notice crosstalk when displaying closeups of players (not sure if this is caused by the display or game since I haven't played the game in another 3d display).  This is all i can say, i'm not really an nba 2k11 gamer.  I'm not sure if there is any slow mo sequence (for ex. dunk plays, etc.) to check out the 3d effect.

I just got this one today, the 42pw350 (3d glasses to follow next week).

To other users, can you suggest any settings to better optimize this tv for better PQ? I ran the Picture Wizard and set it to recommended settings. Is that good enough already?

We're currently playing Batman Arkham Asylum on this tv via ps3, and a while ago, played a 4gb hd movie via PS3 Media Server (DLNA Mode) and we were was just simply blown away!

TIA! :)

I also used picture wizard but turned on the intelligent sensor in eco mode.. it would reduce the contrast/brightness (actually reduce PQ), but would save energy with dimmer environment (when surrounding is too bright, it wouldn't save).. i prefer to use this setting since it is virtually same PQ whether it is bright or dark (my tv is set up in the living room).. if you have controlled light environment, i would suggest turned off eco mode...

While waiting for your 3d glasses, better prepare for 3d source materials (whether it is PS3 game or BD 3d movie).. you'll appreciate more your 3dtv when it is in 3d mode.. (take note that since you used the picture wizard, your setting would be saved in expert mode; but in 3d mode, expert setting is disabled; so you have to manually set again without picture wizard and can only be saved in vivid, cinema, game or sports settings)

Thanks! Will definitely take a look at this once I have the 3d glasses!

BTW, I noticed yun likod nun tv eh umiinit yun bandang ibabaw where there are exhaust holes, yun part naman sa ibaba hindi gaano. Is that normal?

As a workaround, I clipped a cdr-king laptop portable table with fan without the stands sa likod and connected it via usb sa side before I went to work. I'll ask my bro and sis later if that helped in keeping the upper part of the tv cool kahit paano.

hindi ko na napapansin kung mainit o malamig basta masunod lang yung suggested distances between panel ska wall/tv stand for proper ventilation.. mas mainit talaga ang plasma compared sa led/lcd...

EDIT: for those planning to acquire SBS mkv files, I suggest you only get the HALF SBS type.. the full SBS (3840 x 1080 resolution) cannot be played by 42pw350 or my xtreamer.. htpc users will be able to play full SBS, not sure of other NMTs can play full SBS

really aprpreciate the actual user impressions...

care to comment on performance with regards to TV viewing? having quite a very good experience with my current panasonic plasma unit (42x20)...i hope it fares just as well...

timing na lang talaga hehe...really keeping an eye on the 50PW350... :)

by the way, favor needed from any 50PW350 owner...could you please kindly post actual external measurement for the unit's width?  ;)

prior to owning 42pw350, i also had 42x20.. as expected with plasma display, it would be better with tv viewing compared to led/lcd.. it would depend on your video setting of 42pw350 (picture wizard would help).. as for 42x20, it is less complex in video setting since default cinema setting is already enough.. only issue (or missing) in 42pw350 is that "JUST" mode in video resolution in tv mode is not available.. only available are 16:9, 4:3, zoom, and cinema zoom

newbie here:

I recently acquire LG 42pw350 and BX580 3D Bluray Player, I already have HT805 home theater pero DVD upscaling lang kaya i decided to buy na rin ung BX580.

Question

1. Panu ko po palalabasin yung sounds pagka ginamit ko ung BX580 sa HT805?

2. What connection do I need to maximize pq and sq of my units.

3. Do I have to used 1.4 hdmi cable to bring out 3D content from my BX580 to my 42PW350? hindi ba pwede 1.3 lang?

4. Sa mga experts natin na my BX580 my kasama na po bang 1.4hdmi package ng unit nio?

Thanks po in advance.. :)

I'm no expert but I know that 3D content from a BD player (or PS3) would require hdmi 1.4 connection to your tv.  Where did you get your 42PW350?  If you bought it from SnS, they give free hdmi 1.4 cable.  But if you have an half SBS mkv file (or up-down mkv file type) and with dolby AC3 audio in the file, you can play it with the USB player of 42PW350.  You would just need to set the 3d mode depending on what type of 3d mkv file you played.  Or if you have an external media player, you can play also half SBS mkv file and connect even with hdmi 1.3, and set the 3d mode of your tv accordingly.

As for connecting your BD player to ht805, from what i know, the ht805 have optical input but can only decode dolby.  Check your BD player if it can output through optical and force output only signals that can be decoded by your ht805 (check your manual or lg site which audio types that can be decoded through the optical input) .  I based my answer from my experience using PS3 connected to 42pw350.  In the audio setting of the PS3, I only allow output of dolby which can be decoded by 42pw350.

This means I would either have to buy a ps3 slim, or 3D bluray player if ever makabili na ako ng 3dtv. SARS talaga.

Is it really a hardware upgrade? So dapat PS3 slim? I thought un 3D function ng PS3 is simply a firmware update.

Dyan din ako confused. Yung old ps3 has a firmware upgrade to make it 3d capable, pero HDMI 1.3. Yung mga 3dtv's I understand is HDMI 1.4 (I may be wrong).

PS3 slim using hdmi cable 1.3 still outputs 3d ps3 game.. checking actual resolution output, only 720p using either 1.4 or 1.3 hdmi cable... turning off 3d mode of the game would go back to 1080p (i checked playing super stardust).. my guess is that whether it is fat or slim, with firmware for 3d update, you should be able to play games in 3d... if ps3 has limitation in playing 3d only in 720p but you are connected 42pw350 which is only 1024x768 in resolution then 1.3 hdmi cable should be adequate (no need for hdmi 1.4 but if its a freebie then use it  ;)).. (or 3d bd player connected to 42pw350 with 1.3 cable, it would most likely still be able to produce 3d image).. i think 1.4 cable would only be required if you need full hd 3d + dts-hd data (full hd 3dtv + 3d ready, dts-hd receiver)...

guys, is it true na prone itong plasma tv na to sa IR within its first 100hrs of usage?

I play Batman Arkham Asylum on this tv, and ism mode is on orbiter to prevent/lessen image retention, tapos ilalagay ko siya sa white wash before ako matulog and set the power saver to intelligent sensor.

I can see the circular health meter nun game sa upper right corner while on white wash mode. I've always set it to orbiter while playing and white wash before turning off the tv but it is still there.

I checked the number of hrs that I have used the tv, it is already on its 70hrs of usage (purchased it last may 27 2011).

To check it:

1. press the Home button
2. press the RED button for the customer support screen
3. you'll get three different options, picture and sound test, then the last one would be like the product info (something like that)

It will display the model number, serial number(?) and the number of hrs that you have used the tv

Is there anything else that I need to do or some settings that I might have missed? Matatanggal pa ba yun IR? Or should I do the "break-in" thingy until it reaches its first 100hrs of usage?

prone sa ir ang plasma kahit after 100hrs of usage.. pero based sa mga experiments na ginawa, mas mabilis lang daw mag-ir pag first 100hrs ng life ng tv kaya ang usual na suggestion ng first 100hrs ay low contrast lng (mga 50-60 range) for break-in.. pero ibang usapan na yung "burn-in" (permanent impriint ng image), na kahit anong ISM, hindi matanggal.. static image ba yung health meter? gaano katagal yung play time mo? gaano katagal mo ginawa yung white wash? pwedeng tagalan mo lng ng konte pa, tapos observe mo yung image ng health meter kung unti-unti mag lighten.. kung maglighten na ng konte, magtv ka lng hanggang sa mawala o hanggang sa di mo na mapansin..

obvious ba yung ir pag nananood ka ng normal tv or movie?.. sa tv manual, hindi rin suggested na regular ka mag white wash.. mas maganda pag laro mo ng ps3, mag tv ka lng muna for a few minutes... take note mo rin na yung orbiter, may limitation din, kasi yung movement na ginagawa nya hindi ganun kalaki, kapag malaki yung static image mo, baka di rin masyado makatulong yung orbiter...
