Update lang mga sirs. Played my Onkyo pier cdp continously, kaya lang 18 hours lang. My wife has to leave home kasi and she doesnt want any electrical units running (except for the ref) when no one is at home, so she turned it off... mahirap na daw baka me pumutok . I tried it again when i went home... ok pa rin . I think Onkyo cdps are among the best cdps that has well built laser head assembly that really lasts, though they may not sound as good as other highly rated cdps.
Sana nga, i hope this cdp will last me at least 2 years.. wag lang po ako dapuan ng SARS. hehe. .

Had a chance to own Onkyo Integra 701xd for 1 week before a friend bought it from me.. hehehe you'll right this CDP can read cdr fast even on random wla problem...IMHO Onkyo has very good mids ( vocals ) the singer have a fuller voice  and a sense of air in the high though its not detail as other brand but still Onkyo provide a wide soundstage and good match for bright amp coz this cdp is on the warm side.

well anyway, and to answer sir original question of sir reefshark0: the pier we are talking about here is loc near the BIR pier building, if you know it, that is near intramuros area where the COMELEC, the mla cathedral and govenors palace ata yon. there is a circle/rotonda in front of it. the entrance right beside the BIR building is the pier we are saying here. i take it youll know what to do from there. ikot ikot lang sir.

ang ok napansin ko sa player is the tracking gain/offset  and yung isa pa na pwedeing ipihit pag may problema magbasa ng cd.

Yun mga opamp na meron ako puro plastic dual-in-line package (PDIP), yun nasa Onkyo eh single in-line package (SIP). Pero no problem, gagawan ko na lang ng parang "riser card" yun opamp para ma convert ko from SIP into PDIP.

Ganda talaga tumunog, may muta pa daw mata ko ito na agad hinarap ko eh.

Binuksan ko yun stepdown transformer kagabi.... hhhmmm, parang type ko lagyan ng inline filters at maiba naman yun handle! Ahahahaha

Sir JojoD, update mo kami sa resulta ng tweaks mo sa CDP. Kasi may nakita ako dito sa Davao na 701XD surplus pero nung ipa-test ko last week, ikot lang ng ikot ayaw magbasa kahit nilinis na ng husto ang lens. Tsaka nagluluko na ang tray pero malamang sa belt lang ng motor yun. Balak ko tawaran ng P200 to P500, tapos kalikutin ko na rin. Kung hindi ko kaya patakbuhin, at least may spare parts kayo dito for your surplus Onkyo CDPs. May tumawag sa akin dito from the Jap warehouses on Friday morning may mga dumating na containers, ang gaganda ng laman na amps and CDs (champagned-colored with wooden side panels) plus iMacs (P6K each) pero hindi pa nababa meron na raw may-ari. Baka mga taga Pier dyan sa Maynila ang pumakyaw dito.

As for the transformer, inform kita asap. Meron kasi ako dito mga spare parts for an in-line mains filter circuit, balak ko eh built-in ko na dun sa chassis ng transformer and lalagyan ko na din ng switch, fuse, etc. para maging pogi naman. Pero your transformer is a killer! ganda yan, hindi man lang umiinit!

Updates? Sure! Actually, I'm already busy with the riser card for the opamp package adaptor.

My first tweak would be to replace this opamp. A Mitsubishi M5218L SIP-8 dual opamp which, during it's introduction is a fine opamp to use for general purpose audio but now has been greatly surpassed by more quieter, stable, and better sounding opamps. There are 2 of these at the output stage, one package for the fixed level output, and one for the variable level output.

Nowaways, high quality opamps are either found in the PDIP or SMD packages, the latter is a miniature pack and requires a hot air unit for installation, one that I don't have. So I will be using the more popular PDIP package but the Onkyo C701XD has it's output opamps in an SIP8 package so a riser card (or daughter board, or adaptor, or whatever) is in order.

This is what I would be using to convert the SIP8 package into a PDIP8 package. Notice the 2 caps? Those are for local decoupling in case the opamps are in a mood for oscillation.  CNC machined IC sockets will be used to allow testing of different opamps.

Sir Jojo, how about OP Amp converting to SOIC (SMD) package. I have AD8066 and need to convert it to PDIP (thru hole) package. What is your recommendation? The adaptor from RS components cost php 600 each.

Mahal talaga yun brown dog yata tawag nila dun. Sabi ko naman sa iyo walang impossible eh, all we need is a hot air unit for smd parts soldering.

If PDIP na yun package outline ng opamps mo then why not try to use higher grade opamps in PDIP package first, pero if you really insist in the smd parts then gawa kita ng adaptor.
