Recommend: 50" TV for 70%(movies/cable):30%(gaming)
« on: Sep 04, 2011 at 05:27 PM »
Hi!

I own a Panasonic 42PV70 which is HD-ready. I've decided to upgrade to a full-HD, 50" model.

My criteria is as follows:

1. No preference as to brand so long as it's a major brand - Pana, Samsung, Toshiba, LG. Not Sony or Pioneer as both will surely be outside my budget;
2. No preference whether LED, Plasma or LCD;
3. Definitely not 3D;
4. To be used 70% for movies (blu-rays and DVDs) and cable (non-digital kind) and 30% gaming (PS3);
5. Full HD (1080p);
6. Budget: 50K or below.

So far, it looks like the only models which will fit my budget (but not necessarily the other criteria) are:

1. LG PK550, plasma, 37K (tama ba?), but it appears to be fast disappearing from SM's shelves;
2. Samsung PS51D450, plasma, 40K, 720p;
3. Panasonic TH-P50X30, plasma, 45K, 720p.
4. I'm waiving 3rd requirement aboveand adding the LG PW350, 55K @Abenson's.

I'd appreciate recommendations  ;D  Thanks!

thanks for the reply My_einjels. You're right, mostly 720p lang ang papasok sa budget ko.

So, if I push through with my plan, my upgrade will only be from HD-ready to 720p. Di pa 1080p  :(

Yung Full HD dyan sir is the LG 50PK550 but best of luck in finding one. Since it's almost impossible to buy a new one, then i'd go with the PS51D450. That extra 1" still has an advantage.

The Samsung and Pana are looking better and better, for lack of any other viable choices.
