heck id pick amare over blake, he led the knicks in the regular season and brought them to the playoffs for the first time since god knows when.

and blake over melo? seriously? not a blake hater but let him play for at least 3 more years before placing him in the top 10.

At this point it would actually surprise me if the entire season is not cancelled.

Me too.  Looks like both sides are posturing as if there will be no season.  Unlike in the last lockout, the current NBA players also have more options in terms of getting work elsewhere.  (Even JaVale McGee became a Smart endorser!)  It's not going to pay them as much, but probably enough to tide them over for one year.

Report: JaVale McGee close to Philippines deal

By Matt Moore

Less than a month removed from one of the most ridiculous stories you're going to hear, JaVale McGee is set to make a pretty brilliant career move. McGee famously told reporters after a union meeting in Los Angeles that some players were "ready to fold." Then, realizing the trouble he was in, denied saying it, saying the media was twisting things. Unfortunately, every one of those reporters had some sort of recording device. Whoops. But now McGee is set to do something brilliant for his marketing and image. He's embracing the Philipines.

From the Philippine Star:

If everything falls into place, Smart Gilas Pilipinas will have the Washington Wizards’ seven-foot center JaVale McGee as naturalized player for the next FIBA Asia championship.

McGee had been in the country twice in the last four months and, in his last visit, expressed willingness to be part of the Philippine team vying for a slot in the 2014 World Championship.

The STAR source said McGee and the Smart Gilas people have reached an agreement to pursue the same direction Marcus Douthit had gone through enabling the latter to play for the Phl team in the recent Asian joust in Tianjin, China.

via McGee tapped for Smart Gilas - The Philippine Star » News » Sports.

Filipinos, are, to be honest, nuts about basketball. They're in love with it. It's a huge sport there, and the exhibition this past summer with Kobe Bryant et al is a sign of that. This won't help McGee develop into a better defender or to add a mid-range game. But it will help his career in terms of marketing. He could also use the uneequivocal love he will receive from the country. Being in a place that supportive might not be great for his ego but it will be good for his confidence. Pretty genius move.

i was watching nba hd tv last night... and all ex players were gathered around..

charles barkley, kenny smith, shaq, reggie miller, steve kerr, cwebb, et al were there.. discussing:

1. what they love to eat
2. what they are celebrating for thanksgiving
3. etc etc.

end the lockout please.... ;D  parang naging one big all star talk show nalang ang nba premium.

i think its better that there will be no NBA season for this year, many players need to recharge their bodies and heal their injuries, a 1 season off isnt really that bad as we can expect more excitement for next year.

One year off is bad for people like Kobe in the last year or 2 of their elite playing years. Bad for the Mavs as they will lose their momentum from winning a championship. Bad for the players who will lose a years salary. Bad for employees who will lose their jobs including businesses that depend on NBA games like arena restaurants. Bad for the NBA in general because they will lose casual and newly acquired fans as well as much of the goodwill gained from the last season.

I think there's very little upside to losing a season--except maybe to some of the owners. Plus with the anti trust lawsuit they may end up losing more than 1 season.

No NBA season is the worst thing to happen.  :'( My #1 Christmas list is for the NBA season to start before Christmas.  ;D

Now I am forced to just watch college basketball (ESPN HD) and D LEAGUE (NBA Premium HD).

sometimes its better to break them down then build them right back.
parehas matigas so better NO SEASON then a short season that will have the players play not up to par or out of condition.

Looks like its gonna be a Merry Christmas for NBA fans. With a Christmas day opening featuring a rematch of the NBA finals, Celtics vs Knicks and Lakers vs Bulls! Hope the owners and players ratify the handshake agreement.

Good one...   ;D

It's going to be a strange 66-game season, to say the least.  I suppose each team should still play all the other teams at least twice (home and away).  So that's already 58 games per team.  Wonder how the remaining 8 games will be scheduled.

But as they say, now that the NBA's back, that's a nice problem to have.  :)

I think teams will play their co-division teams 4 times for the 66 games to happen.. so it would be like this:

1 team plays 25 teams not on their division twice - 25 x 2 = 50 games
1 team plays 4 teams in its division 4 times - 4 x 4 = 16 games

They most likely included an opt out clause in their contract so they can return to the NBA if/when the lockout ended.
