D12 opted in so he'll still be under contract for one more season 2012-2013.

Did he he exercise his option?  As I understand it, what he meant was he will stay in Orlando until the end of the current season.

he didn't actually.. he had an early termination option on his contract that had he used, would have made him a free agent after this season.. his contract was actually up to 2012-2013.. but he waived his option and decided to stay for the rest of the season and the 2012-2013 season as well..

OK thanks.  Confused the early termination clause with exercising an optional year.

it's sad that Greg Oden was cut.Another player with great potential strikes out because of health issues. :'(

Which brings me to this quasi survey:who has the worst luck in the league, the clippers or the blazers?

Both teams were cursed with their big men although the Blazers won a championship with Bill Walton who incidentally also suited up for the Clippers. Too bad his knees just didn't hold up but he got better in the latter stage of his career & also won a championship with the Celtics. Portland then drafted Sam Bowie as a number 2 pick bypassing Michael Jordan. Got injured, gone & forgotten. Then Greg Oden, injured & was recently cut. The Clippers on the other hand drafted "The Silk" Michael Olowokondi who turned out to be a flop. Blake Griffin got injured after being drafted. But luck is finally on their side with Griffin healthy, a promising big man in Deandre Jordan & of course CP3.

Bill Walton's numerous foot injuries are the ones that did him in.  Several surgeries to sculpt the bones in his foot didn't help.  He even had a specially engineered pair of bball shoes done.

Galing ng moves ng LA to bolster its bid this year. Not only did they become younger, faster, bigger and more athletic in acquiring Sessions and Hill, they did shed payroll at the same time by unloading the overpaid Walton and the very one dimensional player in Kapono. Pity though that Fisher was included in the deal but such is the nature of the business and him being the president of the players association would understand why it has to be done. If he weren't traded he would be part of a 4 guard rotation with Sessions, Blake, Morris which doesn't make sense at all.

The Beasley trade simply didn't materialize because LA's front office really didn't want to add on salary.

it wasn't the Lakers' FO and their reluctance to add on salary who's at fault with the botched Beasley to LA deal, Minnesota owner Glen Taylor pulled the plug for undisclosed reasons

Lakers were 'whisker-close' to getting Michael Beasley
By Mike Bresnahan March 15, 2012, 6:47 p.m.

Quote
The Lakers were seven minutes from getting Michael Beasley.

Then the plug was pulled by Minnesota owner Glen Taylor on an agreed-upon trade, canceling a three-team transaction that would have sent Derek Fisher to Minnesota, not Houston, according to an NBA official who is not authorized to speak publicly.

In the nixed deal, the Lakers would have sent Portland the first-round pick they obtained from Dallas in the Lamar Odom trade. Portland would have sent Jamal Crawford to Minnesota, and Minnesota would have sent Anthony Tolliver to Portland. The Lakers and Portland would have also given an undisclosed amount of cash to Minnesota.

Both front offices thought a deal was done but Taylor blocked it.

The Lakers scurried and sent Fisher to the Rockets along with a first-round draft pick for forward-center Jordan Hill, just beating the Thursday noon PDT trade deadline. The draft pick was the one obtained in the Odom trade.

According to the official, the Lakers were "whisker-close" to getting Beasley, who would have been a solid asset in addition to Cleveland guard Ramon Sessions.

weird to see the Lakers doing salary dumps.

but imho, they came out the winners in the trade deadline.

Sessions should start with Blake providing scoring punch for the second unit. The first five of LA would be deadly in Sessions, Bryant, World Peace, Gasol and Bynum.  Second unit would be Blake, Goudelock, Barnes, Murphy/McRoberts and Hill.

Dumami yung interchangeable parts ng LA with Sessions and Hill.

On hindsight, with Fisher being in Houston rather than coming in second fiddle to Session and/or Blake, he could still provide that guidance and wisdom to the Rockets while having the opportunity to play as well.

good point.Fisher would only end up on the bench, and would get what,10,12 minutes tops?and elder statesman pa sya sa houston along with camby.  ;D

plus mitch kupchak obviously considered the logjam at the PG spot if he was still on the roster:fish, sessions, blake,
