Mental mistake on Gasol's part.

One thing that steal shows, Durant clearly has his head on at defense as well (he made a very similar clutch steal off Kobe during the closing minutes of Game 2) ..... plus his arms really are freakishly loooong.

Should OKC go on to a Western Finals stint against the SPURS, it would be an interesting matchup between age and youth ..... would be the hilite for OKC's Sam Presti young career as well - which makes Popovich all the more special, being Presti's former mentor.

In my book DURANT should be MVP not LBJ

+1 I wonder what criteria they used this time that made LBJ an MVP? There are so much players that have played such significant impact to their teams. IMHO it should have been Durant or Rose..

regular season MVP voting should be done before the end of the EC and WC semifinals

and +1,000 on Durant should be the MVP and not Lebron

sayang paghindi pa sila nagchampion this year

daming pinapatalo ni lebron sa betting
i mean the big 3 hehehe
baka may taya sya kaya lageng choke

ang maganda lang is kapag nagchampion sila - hindi maghihiwalay yang mga yan and i believe they can win 3-4 more titles  - assuming they do not choke

Its nice reading articles saying the Spurs is the model franchise, If I remember right, this team was declared "non contenders" not so long ago, with an aging big 3. Well, fast forward to May, and the "old" Tim Duncan is closer to another (5th) NBA Championship than Lebron ever was to his potential first. Teams like Boston and San Antonio actually rely on their "olds" now more than ever to bail them out of trouble, well, Duncan and Garnet certainly carried their teams when needed.... :D :D :D

I would love to see this happen in the finals... :D :D :D

NBA Teams: Does market size and media attention translate to success?

http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2011/03/nba-market-size-numbers-game/

Pretty interesting article. The Spurs with the most regular season wins since 00-01 despite being the 26th in market size. The Jazz isn't doing too bad either.

The Knicks, Clippers, Warriors and the Wizards amongst the least successful despite having the advantage of a huge market size/metro area population.

I really really really want that 2006 Wade (when I jumped the MIA bandwagon from the 76ers) to come back!

Gasol (and Bynum) hardly touched the ball. Why blame him? Kobe had too many difficult shots and took too much time taking them, the rest of the team became mere spectators.

Gasol got the blame this time because at a most crucial time of the game, he chose to be passive.

However, towards the end of the games where the Lakers lost (which they should have won - Game 2 and 4), the Lakers just went away from their gameplan. Kobe held onto the ball too much. The rest of the team were not moving. The coach was not reining in Kobe. Lahat sila, may kasalanan.  They need a strong willed player (preferably a point guard), who can actually tell Kobe, "No."

I would agree had the game been close. But it wasn't. Even if the Lakers were in the lead, OKC was clearly winning it.

Bro, the game was close. It was tied at the time that Gasol made that errant pass.

I'd like to see this happen and see whether the strong-willed player gets traded to another team. This would then be like a young Racela saying "No" to Patrimonio and then being traded to SMC mid season. ;D At this point, it's really difficult to say "No" to Kobe!

Iba kasi definition ko ng close. Close is parehong hindi nakakashoot or parehong nakakashoot. Palitan kumbaga. Yung Lakers, di na naka-score. Very predictable pa. It was just a matter of time for OKC. Kahit mag-OT pa.

Derek Fisher could do that.

And i believe that Chris Paul could do that to Kobe as well.

But Sessions? Nope. Steve Blake? Nope as well.

You're not talking about "close" then. You're talking about "momentum". Totally different words.

In that game, OKC had the momentum.  But if Gasol had been aggressive and had gone for the hoop and shot the ball... or had lobbed the pass to Bynum instead, the results could have been totally different. And with 30+ seconds left in the ballgame, having a two point or three point lead would have been a whole lot better than having to scramble back on defense because of the telegraphed cross-court pass.

For 3 and a half quarters, Kobe carried LA.. he was the reason they were in the lead.. up until Durant guarded him, Kobe had his way with the OKC defenders.. that's why the Lakers went to him again and again.. he forced a lot of shots in the end, yes.. but Kobe really wasn't demanding for the ball.. the Lakers just went to him as a force of habit.. and as I said earlier, OKC made great adjustments in the 4th and the Lakers didn't.. they put Durant on Kobe.. Perkins fronted and pushed Bynum out of the paint and Gasol just really had no advantage over Ibaka.. Metta and Blake were relegated to spotting up..

I think Brown should have gone with Sessions late in the 4th instead of sticking with Blake.. Sessions was having a good game.. he was able to penetrate.. and Westbrook was able to freelance on defense because Blake really wasn't much of a threat then.. a pick and roll with Sessions would have been a better option at that point.. a penetration would have been better than an outside shot..

the blame could be on Kobe for forcing his shots in the end.. they wouldn't have been in that position if he shared the ball.. the blame could be on Mike Brown for not anticipating OKC's adjustments.. and it could be on Gasol for not being aggressive.. but it really was OKC that forced them to all that.. they just played better..

but to be honest, I really wished Gasol hadn't made that pass.. I keep watching the video of that play and that was sure 2 points already.. one dribble and Perkins would have committed to him and he could have just lobbed it or wrapped it around Perkins to Bynum.. they've done that so many times in the past.. the game was still in their hands at that point.. and I think that is the reason why Gasol is getting the blame.. in spite of the Lakers bad decisions in the 4th, they still had a chance to salvage the game.. and he threw it away..
