I am in hunting mode for a 40+ inch TV and saw this good priced Toshiba.  Just have some few questions.

1. What does LED backlit LCD means?  Does this means this is not really an LED TV?
2. When I was still a kid, we have a Toshiba b&w TV and was the longest working TV we had.  Are the Toshiba still the same quality or I may say last long?  I hope to hear from Toshiba LCD/LED users here.

TiA!

1. LED-lit LCD TVs use LED as the source of backlight as compared to CCFL backlights of regular LCD TVs. LED-lit LCD TVs are still LCD TVs. Most LED-lits are edge-lit, meaning the LEDs run along the border/edge of the screen that sometimes can result to uneven lighting/bleeding/clouding. LED-lits consume less power than the CCFLs.

2. Can't answer this as I do not a Toshiba (yet)...

Think I'm going to get one.

My 32" Regza is 3+ years old and going strong...

3 years is 3 years... I think that says a lot. :)
May you get everything you want, but nothing that you need.

mahirap ikumpara ang tv ngayon sa dati since magkaiba ng technoligy. pero lately, pansin ko lang mas maraming sira ang ibang brands than tosh kaya medyo ito rin ang pinagiiunan ko. though sony's bx320 oks din with 2yrs warranty.  ::)

Thanks for this input!  But I think 3 years is still short for an expensive investment.  My Samsung is almost 5 years and not often used when it conked up which now makes me paranoid in chosing brands.

Our sony crt was busted after 16 years. I doubt if these new flat tvs can match that.  ???

WOW Kapau... I also owned an LG Plasma 32 incher 32PC5rv and it had issues after 18months of regular use.  LG service was ok naman but they were not able to address/fix the issue kaya after that, I am now always looking at the longest warranty possible for my TV purchases.

Sayang naman kasi for the money you're investing, dapat yung product should last at least 3~4 years man lang before upgrading/investing in a new model.

Some of the brands that offer 2 years warranty are Sony LG and Samsung.

Right now I'm sticking with SONY because of warranty and and its inherent brand strength.  LG/Samsung? maybe but not at the moment.

I 100% agree sir.

Once mag offer lang ng 2years warranty ang Toshiba or Panasonic... these would also be my primary choices aside from Sony.

I got it in june2008. then nung dec2009. ayun na nag ka issues na sa Image quality.  When LG checked it they were asking 12k for the repair plus di pa daw sure kung kailan yung part available.  So i just decided not to have it repaired anymore.

But now, LG and samsung have 2 years warranty kaya I hope their units are more reliable (i really hope nag improve quality)

I would consider this Toshiba if only may "added" warranty coverage ... Just for my peace of mind.

Kaya these days... its better to just sell your unit before mag lapse yung warranty then just buy a new model.  Mura na lang kasi mga units now.

on the other hand, way nila yan para iwas kadismayahan ng consumers. perhaps same quality pa rin but since 2 years warranty bibili pa rin ang tao. alisin nila ang extra year warranty at tiyak mababawasan ang bibili.  ::)

You should remember that when flat screen CRT the range of 27-29 inches started at a price of about 30k - then they come-up with another bright idea to get another set of money from you by selling shallow-depth flat screen CRT TV.

Until it became about 10k na lang.

Thus, the 32 inches we see is bound to about 10k or nearby!  :o
Kaya di ako masyadong atat! (the same goes with DVD players that started a whopping 30k price, and now sells 2k or nearby).

LCD TV should last long - I still have LCD monitors (that came with Pentium2 400MHz CPU) which are already about 7? years, and still okay!

When I was younger, me and my brother had an argument as to which hardware is "mas matibay". I opted for Sony since that's the brand that is popular and one I know. He said Toshiba.

Then after some time, the neighbor's Sony TV broke, and when the technician came, we asked him if Tosh is "mas matibay", he said, Sony just sourced parts from Toshiba, and true enough, when he showed us the board, many parts are branded Toshiba. lol

Anyway, back to topic, How much is the 32pb10 and the 40pb10 right now?

About the built-in media player
kaya ba mag-play ng 720p or 1080p? How's the PQ compared with the PC.

I auditioned a 37LK450 at SM Appliance Center and I brought a thumbdrive with a 1080p mkv clip (scrat from ice age) and it played flawlessly.

@Listening Room in Megamall:

24PB10E = P11000
32PB10E = P17500
40PB10E = P29500

24PB10 11k ba best price nito kahit sa ibang shops? bakit wala to sa toshiba regza website? could owners of this model attest to usb movie playback feature?

Visited Listening Room in Megamall, no 24PB10E to their knowledge. 32PB10E at 17.5k. Anybody know where I can get 24PB10E?
