It's about time.  

However, 3D pundits may want to take note that this initiative is for active 3D glasses only.

while active 3d is good, I think Passive 3d is way better. My friend got an LG with Passive 3d, and all I can say is wow.

LG's 2d to 3d conversion is just awesome.

These companies (Sony, samsung, panasonic, etc) just want to extort money and push the ridiculus active 3d glasses. Glasses with batteries are plain ridiculus, and heavy.

No wonder LG is currently number 1 in 3d tv. I was always a samsung fan, but, i guess things change. Go for LG, more bang for buck.

yeah, I wonder why other manufacturers are still pushing active when a lighter, passive glasses will do the same thing?

i think its the picture quality issue.  Resolution for passive 3D degrades, like this photo:



Observed this when viewing the 3D on LG.  Hindi siya ganun ka sharp, medyo obvious din ung horizontal lines.  Pero pwede na, super gaan kasi nung glasses.

Also I think Samsung have a new lighter active glasses already, pricey though.
