The toroidal transformer of your Denon treasure is an eye catching behemoth!!!

Congratz!

I have pioneers, onkyos, sansuis, yamaha amps but sadly  :( no Denon's (except for a small lowend receiver that is not worth discussing). In fact i know so little about this Brand.

I wonder if somebody can give a short overview of the vintage Denon amplifiers. What are the top of line units, the great series, what should we look out for if we go treasure hunting, etc.  ???

Thanks sir. Before I bought the unit, I asked the seller to remove the cover kasi hindi kita ung loob. I wanted to make sure na wala pang repair. Nung mabuksan, even the seller was amazed at the toroid, hindi nya alam na ganun. Kaya nung tumatawad na ako, hindi na pumayag  ;D

This is also my first vintage Denon amp. I also have marantz 1070 Int. amp and 2226B Receiver.

Gud day! A friend is selling me his Sony power amp, model is T-AN 55ES, at 120watts/ch at 8 ohms and bridgeable to 300watts mono at 8ohms. Toroid transformer narin at not surplus (120/220/240v adjustable). Early 90's model ata ito. Very few reviews I see sa web, kaya ask ko lang to the afficionados here, what they think of this amp. Is it considered a "audiophile" power amp? How much kaya ang value nya to date? Tnx

Bakal  pa lang, sulit na ...
How much did it cost, sound impressions?
Congrats Reymer!

Guys, just got this: Denon PMA830  :)

Took pics while I was cleaning the inside

I think this weighs around 18 kilos. All-discrete components. Even the volume pot was a big ALPS (I think its 2"x2"). The toroidal transformer is bigger than a CD. It also has a switch for Class A or Class B Operation, and a direct switch to bypass all tone controls.

Search ko pa sa net ung specs,

Denon was a pioneer in PCM digital technologies and earned its reputation more from the recording industry under the Nippon Columbia brand.  It also got famous for its turntables and digital players.  I recall having a number Denon classical CD discs in the mid to late 80s.  My second CD player in 1989 was a Denon.  And Denon turntables were one of my dreams in the early 80s.

Thanks. Actually, I compared this with a NAD 320bee. The Denon's Mid is more open and the highs more detailed. Dynamics is good yet not fatiguing. It was able to drive my Celestion SL6si (86dB). I think this amp is underrated at 60watts/ch. Understandably, natalo lang siya dun sa Denon PMA890DG ko  ;D which is newer and more powerful at 110w/ch at 8ohms, w/c also has built-in DAC (Burr-brown pa :D)

Thanks guys!  The honeycomb and potted PSUs were actually what grabbed my attention.

@joshbonz
I would say na busog na busog or makapal overall ang tunog ng speakers ko since switching to this new amp.  My favorite songs sound more rounded, detailed, and malinis than ever before.  I love this amp, definitely a keeper.

I also saw a luxman amp there w/ tubes, forgot what model exactly, but looks something like this

Reymer, Yan pala ung Denon na binibida sakin ni Nonoy ha!!
Actually, nagulat din ako sa performance ng vintage Denon. May na swap akong PMA-510 recently (my first vintage denon too!), its a mid model and nothing much too look at but nung sinalang ko na ... oh my yayay !!  :o IMHO maraming tatalunin itong small integrated amp na ito sa mga new entry level amp in the 50 to 80watts category.

Ito you, gold. Gabi kasi nun, medyo malabo na kasi ang mata  ;D. Will post the actual pics later. Ung vintage na PMA830 (1978) hindi pa niya nakikita. Meron itong pinsan, pinost ko sa B/S section. Swerte rin ng makakakuha nun. Yes, bago na number ko, will contact you.

Right now, I'm using a Denon PMA - 780D. Super satisfied ako. It actually has too much power to drive my Mission M72. My bookshelf speakers sound like floorstanders because of the tremendous amount of bass my speakers produce because of the amp. Night and day difference when compared to my Denon 1905 receiver.

True indeed. IMHO, Modern AVRs (even the upper models) wont even come close to the sound of these amps.  :)

Hello all,

I am a new one, just found and so interesting with this forum.

So, does any one have the manual or experience of the Japanese Amplifier TRIO KA-7100D. I got from my brother, but I got less the experience about this Amp.

Please advise me what kind of loudspeakers (B&W, JBL, JAMO available in my country) would be best for the AM amp.

Thank you so much in advance.
