Onkyo ht-3405 owner
« on: Feb 05, 2012 at 08:55 PM »
Just got this from SnS last Friday. After days of research and reviews, i have decided to get this stand-alone A/V receiver/Home Theatre in a Box from Onkyo instead of the home theatre in a box with built in 3d bluray from Pioneer (Htz313bd)

I have to say that I am impressed with its overall performance. Tried it with my Ps3 blu ray player, playing 3 kinds of BDs: A concert BD (the Cure trilogy), an action packed BD (Lord of the Rings), and a 3D BD (Resident Evil) all of which produced high quality video and superb loseless sound.  I was quite surprised that its satellite speakers produced both clarity and power, while its subwoofer has excellent bass. It was a perfect fit for my 14ft x 20ft bedroom.

I also tried its FM tuner and the music is close as it gets to being "CD" quality (at least for my ears  :) )  For an entry level Onkyo product, this is certainly a delight. This package is really a Bang for the Buck.

Masbago yata ang s3400. kagaya ng s5405 at s5400, masmataas na model ang s5400 at masmahal.
pati s9305 at s9300, mashigher ang specs at price ng s9300.

Have a look at the prices I scouted before:
s5405- P30k
s5400- P36k
s9305- P53k
s9300- P57k

Sir kahit saang HDMI pwede, yung assignments (Games, BD, etc.) pwede ibahin between the 4 HDMIs. From the manual lang ha.

I just got the 3400 today, set it up and sampled some DVDs. Mukhang this will be the start of our introduction to Bluray, after having the PS3 for 2 years.

Initial impression is that the difference from FS and BS speakers are noticeable for music, with the latter still being better. For movies, which this was really bought for, the sound is somewhat better. This is only from a small sample of The Fast and the Furious, and The Corrs Unplugged. Will provide more feedback as we enjoy it more. Thanks.

Got it from elim who was selling it at a last price of P 19k in his post. Turned out that we were cousins so he gave a little more discount. But he said he will no longer have HTIBs because the boxes are too big, making the freight too expensive.

I checked Onkyo's site..it seems that the 3405 is the newer version. It has RDS, while the 3400 has none.

"Radio Data System, or RDS, is a communications protocol standard for embedding small amounts of digital information in conventional FM radio broadcasts. RDS standardises several types of information transmitted, including time, station identification and programme information"

Pero same na lahat. Except the subs. Mas slim and patayo ung 3405. Ung 3400 mataba and mas wide. The speakers ng 3405 looks identical. Iyung 3400, mas maliit ata ung dalawang rear surround compare sa front na dalawa.
