mix & match: your opinions pls
« on: Feb 07, 2012 at 02:55 PM »
good p.m. to all,

may i ask for your inputs pls sirs,
i have done the rounds recently and am considering the
following gears for a 2-ch (possible, future 2.1) audio setup:

f'standers:
acoustic energy neo 3 v2
psb image t5
monitor audio bx5

amps:
marantz pm6004/6003
nad c326bee
rotel ra04/04se

mostly entry-level lines lang po muna,
problem is...diff. shops carry these equipment, they may
have 1 or 2, possibly 3 combinations for a speaker+amp demo
& as such it's a bit hard to do comparisons on the spot,
maybe you have them &/or have done a testing/pairing..?

given the above, kindly give your best matchup,
e.g.let's say the best amp match for image t5:
nad > rotel > marantz?
or any other alternatives (within the price range),
& succeeding peripherals (cdp, tuner, etc.) to be same brand

if it would be of any help:
listening area would be roughly 22sqm,
preference is more on a laid-back, warm system,
SQ is a priority over ability to play loud but of course
let's crank it up sometimes hehe.

thanks a lot mga sirs!

a follow-up...hope you guys could help me out
recent audis:
i've heard the bx5s with the rotel and it had very good detail, imaging
was quite spot-on, and crisp highs, but to me it seems that it could
use a little more punch in the low-end.

the ae neos/rotel were awesome. the highs were even more sweeter,
staging and width is great, bass is like 'ulam' with extra rice - ganado.

also tried a polk tsi400 with a yamaha, and it was much too 'forward' to me.
then a kef c-series, ms carnival - parang bitin or lacking coherence.

but i am more inclined now to go for the monitors due to their size and output,
which for me would suit my space better, and the option to bi-amp, if ever.
aesthetics-wise pati mas type ko. swak din sa dyet-bud.

for the amp however sirs, being a bit short on audition time - am wondering
how it would be for the monitors when paired with a cambridge350a or the nad 326?
any inputs on the amp matching is much appreciated...good day to all. :)

i was able to try the ca 650 with bx2, and i found it a bit lacking in coherence so to speak.pairing ca with the rx series is a different story though, one of the best combinations i've heard for the price point.the a5vl or the 326bee might be a better choice for the bx imo.
