btw, i had my David 1 amp tweaked as follows:
1. changed ultralinear mode to pentode mode.
2. setup 6550 as fixed bias (with cathode follower)
the best result, though, is that it has retained it sweet sound ala triode with lots of PRAT. sarap pakinggan... it can also drive my DQ10s with relative ease.
swerte ko naman all of a sudden meron ako nito for tomorrow's session... sayang sir geko di ka pwede.
i have just arrived in the office and i'm very late (11:30am)... di naman ako masyado napuyat (1:30am) pero i made the mistake of turning on the amp this morning... i can't get enough of the sound!! kaya tuloy i left home almost 11:00am after listening to the same CD's i already listened to last night.
maganda kasi ang tunog... i could still remember the sound of kimpao's scott playing beverly staunton... on my sansui w/c is my warmest, most tube-sounding ss amp, beverly staunton sounds satisfyingly sweet but tube amps are on a different level as far as sweetness is concerned... at first i thought they almost sound the same, but once you pinpoint where the differences lie, they become glaring differences... it's the end of innocence, you can't go back once you've crossed the line, you are bitten by a bug, withdrawal effects haunt you... a tube amp surprises you by making a familiar CD sound different.
i'm getting one by middle of this year, maybe earlier... its just a matter of which tube, which circuit, which chassis... its a great time to be an audio enthusiast!!
