i'm thinking of turning the den into a dedicated audio room. the room is 4.3m by 4.6m. i get depth naman in my bedroom setup but what are the real benefits of having a room with just 2 speakers, your source and your amp ?

I dont think there is any advantage of having a 2 channel over 5 channel setup, a good 5 channel setup can whip the ass of many  2 channel systems. its all about your preference, how much money you can burn on hardware and your associated software collection. If you prefer to listen than to watch a movie or you spend 3 hours listening  a day vs 2 movies a week, then theres your answer.....

its also cheaper to buy 2 very good speakers with 2 channels of amplification vs a very good 5 channel setup

it does not hurt to merge the two  ;D

i'll keep that in mind in  case i have the funny idea of making another 6 or 8 channel setup.

the real question is.. what's the benefit of having a dedicated audio room ?

thanks, best regards :).

btw, i just finished moving 2 tables and 1 large piece of glass from the den and there's one full cabvinet, 1 small table and 1 old dining table there... hard work pa.

Dedicated room  = more acoustic treatments

More is usually better in that sense :)

I actually turned my bedroom into one.

You get to place all sorts of acoustic panels without worries.

It's unli room treatment!  ;D great for stereo or multi-channel set-up. One of the must-be investments to improve the sound.

More pawis the better. hehehe... kailangan mo yan Les. Anyways, iba na rin may dedicated audio room plus madali ka na magkapag install ng split-type a/c.  ;) Off-center kasi ang setup mo sa ngayon. Kagaya ng sabi nila mas madali na ang acoustic treatment. Go for it dude!

thanks. it took half the day but it's functional, only thing missing (maybe) is a pair of diffusers and curtains. i like how it sounds though as imaging is really 3d and a while ago, while listening, i thought someone tapped on the glass window hard. it was from my cd pala.

thanks guys !

sir, pics please.  ::)

my humble room. it's been posted in the ht picture gallery but here it is. just a little work. i'm happy na though with the 3d stage.

it's a 20.85 square meter room (4.5x4.5x8 - LxWxH) and the speakers are 8 feet apart and listening position is 8 feet from the speakers. speakers are more than a meter away from the back wall and almost a meter from the side walls. listening chair is 2 feet from the wall behind me.

added curtains last saturday and temporary bass traps yesterday. i can play louder in this room and it sounds good. sound is big and very 3 dimensional. people who've heard it ask "room lang ba pinalit mo ?"

aside from the minor mods and the tubes and the change of a power cord back to stock, yeah it's just the room.
