Help naman po, my 1TB external HDD accidentally dropped while transferring files from my laptop. After that may clicking sound na sya and di na ma recognize ng laptop pero may power pa.

May alam po ba kayong pwedeng mag repair nito to recover my files. Sayang kasi almost full na yung 1TB na ginagamit ko sa xtreamer.

Anyone na pwedeng makatulong po sakin? Kahit po ma recover lang yung files at ma transfer sa new HDD. Thanks!

I'm not a comp-tech but I suggest to look for a reliable computer shop doing files recovery sevices.

try mo yong software na HDD Regenerator. ganyan din nangyari sa WD 1TB ko, 2 times pa bumagsak, ok na ulit ngayon after so many long hours of scan and repair/regenerate nito HDD Regenerator..

I also need help on a couple of HD of mine, di na maread. I've just checked HDD Regenerator, mukhang walang for Win7...

yesterday, i just finished reviving my damaged 2tb drive...

i used "Recover My Files" by GetData Software and YES it works.

I was able to recover all files... plus some deleted and overwritten files. After the recovery operation, the total capacity revived was 3.4tb!

Grabe pati yung matagal ng files which i thought impossible to retrieve was able to brought back.

The problem was I did the saving operation twice (by selecting specific file extension type) since more than 3tb yung narevive and I don't have the 4tb disk.

But it took almost 1 day to revive all files.

Thanks po sa mga replies. Do you think sir magwowork to even if there is a physical damage sa hdd? May clicking sound kasi cya and sa mga nakita ko sa youtube yung clicking sound ay galing sa misaligned head reader.

kung may clicking sounds,ibig sabihin yung heads nyan sumayad na sa platters, malamang kumayod din....years ago natabig ko yung fujitsu 10gb drive ko na napatong sa sofa, about 12inches lang ang height, pero nagcliking sounds sya at naging paperwieght na lang...nowadays, with such high capacity drives, dapat talagang guarded ang paggamit...

so i doubt na me pakinabang ka pa dyan, unless yung data recovery facility can go into your drive and replace the heads.....siguro the cost will not justify going that route, unless yung value ng data mo ay worth more than the cost of having the data recovered....

tanong ka rin sa tipidpc, baka meron doong services para dyan....

Was able to recover my old damaged HD with important files. The tech asked me to purchase a same model HD so he can salvage the data and transfer it to the new HD.

the software used by HDFanatic can recover deleted files, files on formatted drives (if not overwritten, or corrupted volumes ... the one with the clicking sound however would likely be unrecoverable with tools readily available - it may need specialist service to open up the drive and recover the files from the disk platters, which will be more expensive than buying a couple of new drives (only recommended if very important data is stored) ... the clicking sound is likely due to head crash that destroyed the R/W head and some portions of the disk surface

in such cases, the laptop drives are more reliable since those are normally designed with shock protection - when operating, the R/W heads are automatically retracted when dropped

A few months ago, I experienced a HDD crash of my office laptop. The HDD was making loud clicking sounds when I arrived at work one morning. One of my colleagues got scared and had to turn off the laptop because the clicking sound was REALLY LOUD! I transferred the HDD into an external enclosure to recover my files but to no avail. I couldn't even use software recovery tools since the HDD had intermittent connection to the PC. Even our office tech personnel gave up hehe.

Since I was desperate, I tried the "freeze-your-HDD" trick. I was very skeptical at first but I had no other options at that time. Lo and behold, IT WORKED! After placing the HDD in the freezer for about 30+ mins (it was inside a lock&lock container), I was able to gain access to the HDD and copy my files to another PC.

I'm not even sure if this will work for you. Maybe I was just very lucky that day but there's no harm in trying at this point, right? Hehe. Goodluck and hopefully you'll have a happy ending as well

i have read about that also...i think that is a one time thingy...back up your files if you are able to get thru the "freezer" method.....

first time i'm hearing this, but it makes sense ... the noise coming from the disk is due to head touching the platter ... under normal operation, there's a gap between the head and the platter that is around 10% the diameter of the human hair ... if you freeze the HDD, metal compresses and the gap under normal operating environment can be achieved - if the head is not yet damaged, you might be able to recover some data until the HDD heats up again

but as sir Tony said, this could be a one time thingy ... swerte lang

in the old days kasi when we use to transport removable HDD for mainframes na pagkalaki-laki at pagkabigat-bigat tapos 150MB lang ang capacity, we have to wait for an hour for the disk to acclimatize on the computer room (now called data center) environment before it can be used ... pag-galing kasi sa mainit it can cause head crash dahil nag-expand daw mga platters

Yep, I really think I was just very lucky that day. I can still remember the feeling when I plugged the HDD to another PC and was able to access my files after the "freezer" method

I was able to backup around 80GB (out of 100) of very important files (emails, documents, etc)

One of the culprits that I was looking at was excessive heat (apart from old age hehe). I used to leave my laptop on at all times (without proper ventilation). I also read about the swelling of the platters due to heat. Maybe that's the reason why the "freezer" method worked hehe. I'm just so happy that I got all the files that I needed

Hi Sir, may specific procedure ba to do this? Kailangan ba talaga naka sealed sya before ilagay sa freezer? Can I plug the the HDD sa power supply immediately after tanggalin sa freezer?. Naisip ko lang baka delikado because of the moisture. Thanks!

question, after pulling out from freezer and connect the hard disk to pc, hindi ba nagmomoist yung hard drive? worst kung pati sa loob magpawis sya?

^ Good thing you brought that up. Just make sure you bring/use the HDD inside an airconditioned room to somehow prevent condensation

Mas maganda rin siguro kung meron kang HDD dock (vs enclosure) para hindi masyado uminit pag ginamit mo.

Guys, any recommended pro who can retrieve the data from my problematic hdd? Somewhere south or makati sana. Ive tried the recommended softwares pero di pa rin makita yung old files. After several attempts nadedetect na yung hdd which previousluy the software can not, but yung files di makita so di ko na marecover. TIA
