« on: Aug 30, 2012 at 08:28 PM »

Gamit ko is Pana AE7000 with 120" screen. Distance ng PJ from screen is around 13ft.

Off topic but I can't help but notice yung butas sa front wall.  Is that for the aircon? Diba tatamaan ng screen?  And if you're going to use a motorized screen, the screen might sway kung tamaan ng hangin ng aircon.

That's exactly what I noticed. Worst location for the aircon. It will even distract you while watching a movie.

supposedly sir dyan po ilalagay yung aircon, kung makikita nyo tinakpan ulit siya ng semento kasi natancha ko na yun nga (worst position lalo na andun din yung speakers) so i opted to buy an inverter aircon na pinalagay ko lang sa likod para kasama nya dun yung surround speakers at hindi makasagabal sa ilalagay kong projector.

Check mo yung EZFrame Elite Screens CineGrey.
Go for the 1080p PJ if your budget permits ;)

Go for Cinewhite if your PJ is high-contrast.. Cinegrey for the not so high-contrast PJs..

depends on where your sweet spot is. if you are going to watch 9-10ft from the screen, i would say, there will be a difference. but if further away, around 15 feet up, i think not anymore. ilooking at the picture i think the length of your room is 12-15 ft.

but its not only the pixels we are talking about. 1080p pjs are generally better also with color reproduction and contrast, so even if you dont see the pixels because you are further away, the newer 1080p pjs will trump the 720p pjs in the other departments.

i just graduated from 720p to 1080p, watching from 9 ft away on a 90" screen, and just asking my sons 13 and 7 year olds, and my wife, they noticed that the new pj's image is smoother, colors are more vibrant and black is closer to black than gray. so if they can see the difference what more for us pixel peeping enthusiasts...  :D

I think the room is about 21 sq meters (3.5 x 6.0 meters). That's a good size and is the most common size among rooms of members. You will have 2 rows of seats, with up to 8 guests. With this setup, you definitely want a 1080p pj. Next question is screen. Mga 108" siguro pwede, kahit matte white ok na but to make sure, tell us what the pj will be so we can calculate the brightness of the picture.

^ good to hear that sir streetsmart..

I think i'd be going with the optomaHD 1080p projector.... maybe in 2 years time(due to budget constraint).  Is there a noticeable difference if I'd be using 1080p mkv file (PC via HDMI to PJ)VS BluRay Player?

As a general rule, there will be no difference between Mkv vs bluray player. We proved this in a Pdvd blind test with more than 20 participants. People couldn't tell the difference.

very good news for me =) will save me a lot of moolahs.... thanks sir streetsmart for answering my newbie questions.

OT question:

Okay lang ba sir carpet ang gamit kong flooring? is that good or bad? tapos dun naman sa bintana, maglalagay ako ng kurtina to block sunlight.

Generally, people use either carpet or wood for flooring. Sa bintana, some use blackout shades.

It's hard to say if carpets are good or bad. In most cases, they are good but in a few cases, if the room is too dead, it's better to use wood.
