hi,

extreme dvd players default screensaver is exacatly the same as nextbase slim wherein it is colored yellow orange-ish with droplet of water image. except of course the word on the default screen is EXTREME instead of NEXTBASE.

other things aside, since i only saw it as it was set up but a store along carriedo's many chinese merchants stores, where they display pile upon pile of dvd, vcd players, all i can say is it might be a clone of nextbase as far as the chip inside is concerned.

however, to be honest with you, if the price of extreme is NOT at least 800pesos CHEAPER than the current market price of a new nextbase slim dvd9000, i will NOT gamble on it after having the "assurance" of how well the nextbase has been tested and performing.  if the price of extreme is same as nextbase, i wont give it a look at all. if more expenisve, all the more it is a goodbye.

i am not aware though is extreme dvd has a warranty card and if it does, is it the same as nextbase's TECHNOPOINT. if it is, naku... dapat imbistigahan!!

XTREME dvd player
meron na bang gumagamit nito dito? after buying Kebao KB6089 yeasterday...i'm eyeing next on XTREME dvd player.

based on what is writen on the box and physical inspection....this is what i learned about XTREME dvd player:

- 5.1 ready plus all those AV terminals (just like KB6089)
- 4x zoom (KB6089 zoom is 3x only)
- DTS and THX decoder (KB6089 is DTS decoder only)
- 2 terminals for karaoke (1 only for KB6089)
- all basic functions buttons plus toggle/navi key(?) button for accessing all the menus w/o using the remote (KB6089 is touchscreen buttons but basic functions only)
- wider casing which means more ventillated room and can't easily get warm inside compared to KB6089 w/c is compact, although both players have built-in fan.
- XTREME is P3400, Kebao KB6089 is P3800.
- XTREME has 3 months parts/service warranty (6 months to some stores according to Caleb @ Kebao thread), Kebao has 2 years parts/service warranty.

now...these are my questions:

- Kebao can play jpeg......can someone here verify if XTREME can play jpeg?
- Kebao has equalizer....can someone here verify if XTREME has equalizer too?
- Kebao is munti-region....can someone here confirm if XTREME is multiregion?
- Kebao has pitch control...meron di kaya yung XTREME?
- according to Caleb @ Kebao thread...XTREME has 1800 lines VGA resolution compared to Kebao w/ 1200 lines. Does this mean XTREME has progressive scan?

i searched the internet using "XTREME DVD PLAYER" as keyword and i found out that XTREME is a manufacturer for DVD drives for computers. Does this mean that the maker of XTREME dvd player is a seasoned dvd manufacturer? if XTREME can play jpeg...i may buy one by december.

paging dvd gurus...baka naman may info kayo about XTREME. please post your experiences/reviews/comments. thanks for your inputs in advance.  ;D

Is this for real?

it's what is printed at the player itself, together with those DTS Surround and Dolby Digital labels. there's a big possibility that it is true coz as i've mentioned...XTREME manufacturer has been a manufacturer of XTREME dvd drives for computers.

Anyway, have you had a Nextbase or Extreme DVD Player before that you had tried before you concluded that it has surpassed the Kebao KB6089 DVD Player in terms of its specs?

Just a question...  :)

wala pa akong XTREME player. i'm actually eyeing on that XTREME player i mentioned. yung nextbase naman wala ako personally but my brother has a nextbase dv9000 for almost 2 years already. if you can read the whole thread about nextbase and kebao, you will be convinced that based on users' opinion and comparison, kebao is the clear winner. with regards to XTREME, i was able to read the box of XTREME (read my first post in this thread) and based on what i learn from it i can say that XTREME is better than kebao kb6089 when it comes to features. i just don't know if XTREME is a good player too when it comes to quality.

Extreme DVD Player has the ff:
HDCD - Exhaust Fan - VGA Out - Equalizer - DTS - Echo

But no Pitch Control

Looks good on the outside - a perfect clone of the Pioneer 366
Next Base 783 sucks in appearance but then Next base is definitely a better performer (better video and audio performance) than the Xtreme.  Don't waste your money on this.
Next Base pa rin!!!

The latest Xtreme model looks like the Pioneer 366
and is definitely better looking than the NextBase 783
but since they have the same price (about 3,400 pesos)
and the Xtreme's performance is not as good as the NB 783, I would recommend that you stick to the NB 783.
Iba na ang subok.

nextbase and kebao started the same thing. everyone was so hesistant to try those brands because they never heard of them before and were worried that they might be wasting their money. but some people have the guts to try and they found out that indeed those brands are more than worth the branded players. XTREME is no different to this case, it just so happened that very few people took notice of it and no one has posted a credible review on it. based on my assessment on my earlier posts, XTREME looks like a interesting generic player to consider and maybe worth a try to test its capability compared to nextbase and kebao. not too soon, i'll have this unit and i'll post my review for the benefit of everyone here who continue to search for an affordable but good quality and capable generic player.

XTREME DV-6500A

* a clone of the Pioneer DV-366 DVD player

It seems that this player is a bit underrated, but after recommending it to a friend and a fellow forumer (RobertJ), I got favorable feedbacks regarding the said DVD player... I hate to say this but I think I have to part with my beloved KEBAO KB6089  :'(  and replace it with this baby since it has mostly the features of KEBAO KB6089... well, it exceeds pa nga since this baby can display anamorphic PAL discs correctly :D  and the japorms is ala-Pioneer pa with decent looking remote but the best part is the loaded features that it has which gives the user flexibility and complete control especially for those with HT setup  ;)

Yup, this is the DVD player that caught my atttention at an appliance store along Sucat.  I assumed it was a Pioneer until i saw the price tag and the logo.  I believe this is the only generic player with the gall to clone en established brand's facade.  Apart form its other features,  i hope it's JPEG viewing is much  faster than the painfuly slow 366.

this is an OT to xtreme player but i'll try to explain my opinion:

i won't believe that this model exceeds the kebao kb6089. actually, before i got my kb6089, i was eyeing on pioneer dv-366 and philips 727. but when i discovered this forum and was able to compare the 3 models side-by-side, the kb6089 came out as the best among the three plus the fact that it cost me only P3,700.

I bought extreme DVD DV6500, and i was impressed by its features, all the features of the pioneer 566K as well as the looks of it is in it  and even surpasses it as it reads both DVD=-r/rw :) :) :). I have tried different models and was impressed by two players, the powtek dvd is good also and has nice packaging, the best ( amongst the cheap DVD players). About the extreme dvd, well I have tried all types of cd's ( cdr, cdrw, dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, dvd-rw) available, it reads jpg, gif, kodak picture formats, reads mp3,mpg,wma,mpeg-files. And it reads all my old DVD's that is not readable on other players..

congratz bro! please keep on posting any positive or negative experiences on this player. iwas actually planning to buy this player last december but because of tight budget during christmas season, i postponed it. it's just a matter of time and i'll surely buy one xtreme dvd player.

Widely available at the Raon Shopping Mall for Php 3,300.00. ;) ;D
It's asking price ranges from a high of 3,800 pesos to it's 3.3K fix price.

BTW...HDCD lights up on HDCD encoded discs, I just cannot really tell if there is a difference ??? ::), lucky me, I am not craving for those high end amps. ;D

Prog scan is 480p for NTSC and 570p for PAL encoded discs. ;) ;D ;D ;D

Think it's really a good buy considering it's price. ;)

hmm...i misinterpreted your post last time. nintendo @ festival mall is selling this model of xtreme for P4,200. i checked the specs and i'm also impressed by the features. clone nga ng pioneer! these are what i found out:

- similar with kb6089 in terms of terminals at the back
- with built-in fan
- it can play wma format (kb6089 can't)
- 2 terminals for karapke with pitch control
- progressive scan (being a clone of pioneer)
- with equalizer control
- dts digital out (not dts sorround)
- SRS features
- control of all the features using the player buttons/navigator (instead of using the remote control). advantage of this is...in case you lost your remote control or the remote control was damage, you can still access all the features using the navigator buttons at the player itself.

actually, the remote is not similar-looking to that of pioneer. cheapepay ang dating, mas ok pa yung sa kb6089.

nintendo is giving only 6 months warranty for xtreme dv6500A.

Its more closer to Pioneer 566K since it has Karaoke function
