What happened to this thread?

Aren't they (speakers) good enough anymore for?

I am in the market right now to start another entry-level basic 5.1 set-up in another room, would you guys still recommend this?

I would still humbly recommend Dai Ichi, Sir. I was there the other day. They have a new model that just came out. The floorstanders are massive in size. Curved cabinets are similar in shape to diamond 9 & 10 series. The smaller one was as big as my euros 6's. The bigger one I would estimate to be at least 4 feet tall. Both have 5 drivers, 6 inch woofers for the former and 8 inch woofers for the latter. More or less at 15k and 18k respectively. Bookshelf speakers are 4 inch single drivers.

There's also a new us audio 12' sub. Grey finish with volume control/dial in front.

Can't say a thing about the sound though. According to them, they had no amp powerful enough to drive them properly. ???

I'd recommend their products, but not their customer service. Well, at their Megamall store at least. But that's another topic. >:D

Anyway, I've had my Euros 6's for 3 years now. Can't say I'm not satisfied. ;)
I only have two secrets to success and happiness:

1. Don't tell anybody anything you know.

2.

A serious customer will have to bring his gear. It will be silly to buy something unheard or reviewed.

Some 20+ odd years ago I built a FS using Targa woofers that were 8ohms.
They sounded and still sound very very nice.
And they're very tough as well.
They're one of my favorite speakers.

I'm thinking of an MTM with side firing 10" sub and planned to use TARGA sub drivers.
I called Dai-Ichi Mega, they don't have them anymore  :'(
They have a very nice 10" sub but its 4ohms  :-\

Wish they still have those 8ohm Targa Sub drivers.
(BTW, the lady at the other end of the line was very nice to talk to...)

Nice nice.

I have another room running on Dai Chi's DTX series and have no complaints. Was just wondering about their current or existing releases nowadays.

Budget wise for the extra entry-level 5.1 HT, it appears that what will fit the bill is either dia chi or the AAudio Genesis series.

Which one would be my best bet?

Cheers

You ask here the answer will be Dai-ichi. Ask at AA thread, the answer will be AA. Para walang tampuhan keep this thread about Dai-ichi.

That is exactly the reason why I asked here, I wanna see if there are Dai Chi users who have both Dai Chi and AA, or Dai Ichi users who have gone AA and/or vise versa.

Just like asking my friends who are members of the Fortuner club, even if they are die-hard members and who love their own, they recommend something else. I think that would be an unbiased advise/review/comment.

i do not really value any reviews or comments done by another...
i also refrain from making reviews....very highly subjective....
if i say such gear is very good and you listen to it and
found it is not to your liking, then you might call me a liar...:D

the best thing to do is to hear it by yourself,
and then from your own opinions...

I am lazy. I often go by reviews. But I review the reviewer. I pay more attention to credibly offended reviewers rather than overly enthusiastic noobs.

But I do understand what you are saying. I look at my decade old posts and laugh. Embarassed even. But as I always say, my ears are as good as my last great audition. Live and learn.

Sir there are many of the new Targa subs in Raon. The X-100i (10" 4ohm/300w single voice coil) or X-100i DVC (10" 4ohm/300w dual voice coil) have a very nice construction. Diecast aluminum basket, stitched rubber surround, gold-plated terminals.

You can get the DVC and do a "series" wiring to convert at 8 ohm load like pictured below.

I bought the smaller Targa (X-80i DVC) and replaced the 8" (nearly) busted subwoofer of my powered sub in my DJ studio. Bass punch and deepness is so much better than the older one (when it was still working well). I got it from Raon (P1,650) and it was so much cheaper from the Dai-Ichi store in Megamall.

Here's how the x-series subwoofer look like.

^can you tell us price range?

Dai-ichi is an OEM for overseas branded speaker drivers, naturally they get the technology in the process...
last i heard, they were running Martin Logans' bantay sarado nga lang....

i look at my decades old posts too and same thing, "did I say that?" was my reaction...:D
but i have tried to be consistent from day 1...
today i am more tolerant of other people's views....:D

The X-80i is 1,500 while the DVC is 1,650. The X-100i is 2,200 and the DVC is 2,300. I think the x-120i (12") is about 2.8k. Those prices are from two stores in Raon. I forgot the store names already but there are a lot of stores there selling them. You'll just have to go around to canvas and see which of them sells at the cheapest price. If I remember correctly, the X-100i is being sold at Dai-Ichi in Megamall for 2.8k.

I'm actually planning on building a DIY sub and use two x-100i (two 4ohms units, wired in series to convert to 8ohms). I already have a design for the box (downfire ported). I'm just looking for a nice plate amp to drive them.

Thank you so much for the info & picts, sir nicadraus.
Nice Targas!
Now I know what to look for.

BTW. IIRC, there is a distortion issue when connecting speakers in series.

those JBL pre-loaded sub boxes won't sound good if used for home theater. they're mean't for car audio.
