I think that's the way to go, bro. Since di rin naman tayo ganun kayaman e, if your going to invest , invest it on good but affordable equiptment na lang. Konting tyaga lang. I suggest getting a Sakura AV-387 (around 3.7K), then a pair of DTX 9.5 Towers (3,800). I don't think those 2.1 generics wouldn't really provide that much satisfaction. And if you turn them up too high, baka masunog pa yan ng Sakura. Konting tyaga lang bro. That's how I got my HTs at home, paunti-unti din.

sir magkano ba kung bookshelves lng for fronts? malaki ba difference nila ng dtx 9.5T?

2,200 bro, pwede rin naman yan for fronts e. Only loss mo lang naman is that the towers can go as low as 65Hz, while the bookshelfs(bookshelves) can only go down to 80Hz, but your sub can take care of that.  ;D

bro pra saan naman ung Hz & what's d advantage of having a lower Hz?.

thanks.  :)

Hz- the unit of frequency which is the number of cycles/samples per given time

In speaker, we measure the response of the speaker in Hz (or frequency).
Average human being can hear from 20Hz up to 20Khz frequency range.

In layman's term, the advantage of lower frequency response is you can hear sound from speaker in full range and you can hear the low frequency effects that are encoded specially in movies. Say if the speaker has frequency range of 60Hz to 20Khz, anything below 60Hz cannot be reproduced by the said speaker thus you are loosing signal and sound information.

Lower frequencies contains bass, punch, mid bass and deep bass. Higher frequencies contains higher pitch/treble.

HTH.

I don't think so, but I don't think it's necessary. At viewing height ng tv? Kahit na nasa ilalim yung sub mo, di naman siguro maaapektuhan yung TV mo.

the length from tv to the where i want to plave the sub is just 2 feet away. the tv is in the tv rack while the sub is somehow underneath it.

You know, bro marky, I'm not so worried about the effect of the magnetic field on the TV right now, I'm worried about the vibrations produced by the sub on the rack that might cause damage on your TV, and other equiptment on the rack. That's what's nice about a subwoofer, since it produces non-diectional frequencies (below 100Hz), you can place it practically anywhere in the room. I strongly suggest you place your sub somewhere else. Besides, these pups move a lot of air, so give it room to breathe. Just me, though. ;)

just bought the US Audio 512 MKII today. its a very heavy sub. got it from jenny ok knight audio. she's very pretty pala.  ;D but hindi siya gumagana pagdating dito coz wala kaming ampli. i just connected it sa sub out ng dvd player ko(philips 642k). damn... i thought it would work that way... ang mahal pa naman ng ampli./receiver..  :P

ok na kaya yung sakura? may dts and dd 5.1 decoder naman yung player ko eh.

yup dapat medyo malayo ang sub sa TV, dati nga nasa halos nasa side ko na ang sub noong nag speaker placement ako.

still my DTX4.10 rocks!!! mas lalo siguro yung 12 and 15 inchers ninyo mga dudes.

Baka di mo na switch 'on' ang sub from your DVD player, check mo sa audio set-up. It should work. Kung wala pa rin, you can use the line out of the dvd player, pwede rin yun since may filter naman ang 512. Then since may line out din yung 512, dyan mo na lang i-connect yung tv audio input. This is bound to be the solution kung wala talagang signal sa sub out ng dvd player mo. If you're out to buy an inexpensive amp, Sakura may lead to the right path. I suggest the AV-387. It costs less than 3.7K. HIH.  ;)

All or digital ata yun). basta walang 'sub on'.

ummm... di ko magets yung line out method na sinasabi mo sir. although may line out nga yung 512 ko. but eto yung pagkakaintindi ko: i'll connect the L/R of my component to the line out of the 512? then yung sub out ng player ko i'll plug it sa line in ng 512? is that it?

Sorry for the late reply ha? But you got it bro marky. Your sub setting should always be below 100Hz, but above the lowest frequency response of all your other speakers. The phase setting would depend on your positioning. It must also sync with the video. Pakinggan mo na lang, but usually the on phase is appropriate.  ;)

sir, yung on phase wala sa sub ko nun. 0 degress to 180 degrees ang knob niya. my sub is placed below directly below my front right speakers. ano po dapat ang phase ko?

Oh yeah, 0 degrees is the equivalent of ON phase, and yung 180 degrees, Off phase. Variable phase control nga pala yan.
