I am happy that I revived my Adcom GCA 510 which I owned brand new since 1998-99, i think. Here's a short story. I sold it to a friend when I tried vintage amp. It was working very well, but got busted after Ondoy. My friend asked me to help him repair it. So, I gave it to my other friend hoping it would be fixed. Sadly, he was not able to repair it, until the 2nd owner (my old friend) died recently. My friend died with his Adcom under my responsibility. Then, I realized that my Adcom GCA 510 is really destined for me. So, I tried my best to restore it, to fulfill my dead friend's wish.
There are lots of good people here in PinoyDVD. The people who helped me, were the ones I did not expected. So, I would like to take this opportunity to those people who made an effort in finding me a toroidal transformer as replacement for the busted one. Those people are
TonyT, Jojod, Marckrenze, Edrel Sison...lastly Juan bote (John P.) made the customized toroidal tranny. The size of the toroidal tranny is not available in the market, the main reason why I let John to make me a customized tranny.
I also made some modifications, tweaks, to have a stable power supply and better SQ. Here are the pictures of the innards.
