The "Surplus Amps" thread is very helpful to many. It featured buying guide, reviews, history, opinion and everything one needs to know about having an old/surplus amp.
How about old/surplus receivers? Buying guide? Models to watch out for?
THANKS!!

Receivers are not that many. What I saw were mostly prologic and stereo receivers some of which were flagship models in their days - heavy and well-built. But I doubt if you'd benefit from their tuners as I heard they require some re-channeling adjustments to accept all the local FM/AM stations. I also saw some excellent separate Tuners which require rechanneling.

if you want inexpensive RP-compatible surplus receivers, look for Japanese brands sold in Korean surplus shops. i saw some international- standard Pioneers and Kenwoods (low-powered receivers 20 to 30wpc) from Korea sold here in Davao from P2K to P2.5K. they run on 240 volts and with tuner frequency range same as ours. if you're not brand-sensitive, GoldStars and Samsungs are even priced cheaper.

Hmmm. I saw a korean surplus shop right in front of the HMR sa Pioneer Pasig. Meron yatang audio equipment doon pero i dont know kung may tuners at kung magaganda. I breezed through their units and wala akong nagustuhan. I never came back.

I think i also sa a few receivers. Ung audio video receivers. I just am not sure if there will be problems with the tuner part of these jap receivers.
I will ask when i visit the pier again. I'll try to list the pieces that i will see. Also ask prices.
