Hello,
Its been almost a month na nagllurk ako dito sa forums, figuring where to start my upgrade. I have an existing samsung htz210, gusto ko sana magstart by buying a set of front speakers, I just dont know anu anung mga speakers pwede dito sa existing htib ko. Will the polk tsi and rtis work? Wala bang risk na baka may masira?
Maraming salamat in advance and more power sa forumers!
I am an actual user of HT-Z210 in my A/V room (about 12 sq.m).
It is a powerful amp - belying its size and weight. That is because, HT-Z210 are made of digital amps. Each channel is advertised at 133W rms. Typically this is 10%THD. Thus, you can expect 100W to be within a good audiophile quality - meaning clean (from distortion).
The amp is rated at 3 ohms - so you can use any 4-8 ohms speakers. Preferable 4 ohms to make way for more power. at 8 ohms, it can only muster 50W theoretically. I used a second Z210 with JBL satellites (8ohms, 86dB) and a Yamaha sub SW-120 in our bedroom. So you can use polk tsi/rti (8ohms, 89dB) which will sound louder than JBL on same volume setting.
I used X3 (
http://www.hometheatersound.com/equipment/bohlender_radia_x.htm, 4 ohms 92 dB) as front, and X1 as my center and surround. This has been my main setup for 2-3 years now and I am not changing anything since this deliver the goodies and simplified at that.
The caveat with Z210 is the sub. The amp fixed its cutoff at 140Hz. Thus, any of your speakers will just articulate beginning at 140Hz. With this, you need to include an active subwoofer in your first purchase of the speakers (although you can use a passive sub at 4 ohms also - the bigger, the better). The subwoofer of Z210 is a plain crap - with its supplied speakers.
I used Dai-ichi DTX415 in my subwoofer. It has speaker-level input, where I input the SUB out of Z210.
Altogether, they make a CLEAN and LOUD sound that you yourself will not use under normal listening. If I am not mistaken, Z210 label incremental volume scale up to 50. The normal listening level I used is 18. The high listening volume I have is max at 28. I know for a fact that with Z210 supplied speakers, scale of 50 is a way of life - an still not delivering the mmpph. With the right speakers, you can even go beyond the scale of 28 and still the speakers is giving more CLEAN LOUDER sound (no trace of pesky distortion). I did not try when it will have distortion - since the speaker is already giving too much loudness that my ears can not accommodate.
If you want the real setup, I invite you to my place to hear it for yourself. You might even have a change of mind not giving up on that Z210. It simplifies a lot of your life - and that Z210 will live longer if fed with good speakers (since you need less than half its max volume - less wear and tear).
