HDMI splitter issue
« on: Feb 15, 2013 at 06:25 PM »
I got curious with the cdrking hdmi splitter, and bought one:

http://www.cdrking.com/index.php?mod=products&type=view&sid=12359&main=154

the way I connected it is this

HTPC -->> splitter -->> the other end going to tv, the other one to the AVR.

Problem is it won't stream dolby, dts, etc. It's stereo only.

It's either I'm doing it wrong or its really not working.

Trying to get help from you guys, before this becomes a 1k worth paper weight.

Based on the link you provided its capable of up to 7.1, if you connect directly to the avr and play the same file it works normally in 5.1?

Yes sir 5.1(dolby, dts) works well kapag walang splitter.

Saka pag gamit ang splitter, when I check audio options  sa windows (hdmi) walang options for 5.1  stereo lang meron.
here's a reference pic:

yung sa akin stereo lang ang meron pag gamit ang splitter.

Kapag tinanggal ko ang splitter, okay naman.

Patay...

From the looks of it plug and play sya eh so wala ka nang dapat adjust, i doubt if you made a mistake with the connection, its too simple to get wrong, hehe, try switching around the hdmi cables, test all your cables without using the splitter just to establish that its not an hdmi cable issue, kapag ok lahat ng cable, Just have the unit replaced, baka defective lang yung nabili mo.

Or test muna all HDMI cables without the splitter.

anu ulit ung connection?

paspecify kung saan nakakabit ung IN and OUT ng HDMI Spliiter

HTPC to CDRKING HDMI input?

out 1   - TV
out 2   - AVR

tama ba?

output 1 and 2
HTPC to AVR ayaw mag decode ng DTS?
Love me or hate me.....

tama po, ganyan nga setup ko.

Purpose ko is para pag cartoons lang pinapanood ng anak ko, pwede ko patayin ang avr, that's why I bought this.

Tested it again, it worked for one time, after I restarted, ayaw na naman. Don't know what I did, pero di ko na mapagana.

One thing is for sure, its working kapag isa lang ang output.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product. It's a real pain in the ***

Haven't tried asking for replacement yet, too busy sa work. But I will try this week.

Similar to KVM switches, the output is usually downgraded to the lowest resolution.  As a solution, newer and higher-end KVM have something called EDID (external display ID?) which works for Windows 7.  EDID allows the KVM to remember settings for different output devices.

Although your issue is digital audio in nature, I suspect the switcher is acting similarly.  If there's a stereo only output, it'll downgrade all output to stereo only.  I may be wrong though.
