NOT really. People tend to believe that Plasma consumes more electricity than LEDs; which is technically correct..
PLASMAS consumes electricity based on brightness of each pixel. So if the scene is bright then it consumes more and less if the scene is black or dark.
In real home application, The usual viewing brightness level in plasma is set to 50% only. Unless you prefer viewing in dynamic mode then you know what will happen.
Whereas LCDs or LED are using backlights that are always ON n even if the scene or pixel are completely black.
I used to own a 32" lcd tv and upgraded to a 42 inches olasma, power consumption is relatively the same (in terms of kw used).
