Don't really know! I just attribute it to the Christmas rush. I did still get the discs in very good condition but
the joke spun by the duty officer was quite annoying.

I'm grabbing the R1 Spidey in their bargain basement
section for less than 640Php. Sweet deal, huh!?

just get the r1..its not always that an r1 is availiable locally...and besided..the r1 is really really better!

Was able to get our Region 3 copy of Pirates of the Caribbean from Astrovision SM Fairview yesterday for P750.00. Although I would have wanted to get the R1 version, we chose to wait for the R3 release kasi sayang din 'yung P450.00 difference.

I was just able to open the package, but have not yet viewed the discs. I however tested the discs on PowerDVD. When I inserted Disc 2, it indicated that the disc is region 1 encoded.

Anyway, based on what's written at the back cover, most of the features found in the R1 version are included, except for the subtitles and the DVD-ROM features. In addition, the 2-disc set comes with a booklet with overflaps.

Got the R3 copy.

As rafgar said, the R1 features are pretty much intact on the R3 version (including the 3 audio commentaries). It also has DTS 5.1 and is THX Certified. I think the booklet insert is a virtual reproduction of the R1 insert because the subtitle descriptions say the disc has French subtitles and captions (alam naman nating wala).

I can live with the so-so packaging. This DVD is definitely value for money!

Yup, I''m planning to buy the 3 version, because I can buy other DVD's as well. Also, I didn't liked the movie that much. I'm not that money surplus guy anyway.

Yeah, bought one copy. Super sulit for PhP 299!!! May lumabas palang R1 nito dito... ma-check nga mamaya kung R1 o R3 yung nabili ko.

XRan, the R1 release disappeared in a matter of minutes when it was released. you would know if it's the R1 release if it includes the slipcase. yes, the R1 released here has a slipcase.
