I guess you asked for it and you had it coming.  You posted in a thread where people seems to be thrilled with the game ;D

Anyway, about the empty seats last night the culprit really is the pricing.  That's about $600 a seat.  Damn, that's PLAYOFF price.

About the lack of excitement and highlight reels, we should realize this is preseason, not playoffs.  And this is not an exhibition game, it's more of a tune up.  Players are not supposed to play at a high level nor are they obliged to thrill the fans. I guess what you paid for here is the unique chance to witness the first ever "real" NBA game in Manila.  And the chance to see in person the players including the legends like Bird, Mchale, Drexler.  Nothing more, nothing less.

I guess the fans, me included, after having seen ALL STAR games played here with the likes of Shaq, Kobe, D Rose, KD, CP3 and even Lebron were expecting a bit more spectacle on the game yesterday. Hence, the disappointment because the game was nowhere near close, there were a few highlight dunks, few razzle dazzle moves except for James Harden ( who knew what Pinoys want ) and perhaps Jeremy Lin ( who had to live up to his LInsanity in Asia ).

But if you look at it simply as a preseason game, I guess it was worth it.  We saw how strong Houston is come the NBA season with DH12.  We saw how Scola can be effective with the Pacers.

Other than that, let's be happy that a first happened in our country.  Hope not the last, but also hope that the prices will be reasonable and affordable the next time.  Who knows, in the future baka Heat or Lakers may play here??

^ I'm confident that the NBA will have another pre-season game here. Maybe not next year, but definitely the Philippines will now always be on the NBA's marketing radar.

As to whether the NBA should bring the Lakers here, I believe this should help convince the NBA :)

Leave it to the LA Times to exaggerate the circumstances and make a big fuss about nothing.   ;D

This is where the LA times based their article....
Quote
For most of his visit to the Philippines, Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard received a lot of love from basketball-crazy Filipino fans.

During the Rockets’ preseason game on Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers, Howard was on the receiving end of some boos from the crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena.

There were also scattered chants of “Kobe! Kobe!”

It wasn’t all bad for Howard, however, as the crowd gave him a big cheer in the third quarter after he made a free throw.

Received a lot of love, some boos, scattered chants, crowd gave him a big cheer.... seems like the positives outweigh the negatives.  More like isolated cases than a backlash.   ;D

I watched it sa TV. It was a better pre-season game than most. The starters logged more than 30 mins. Try watching a pre season that's played in the US you can barely see starters after half time. It's a venue where teams are supposed to play their new players and check on their system. Howard looked good and foresee that he will have a great season ahead. Good to see Danny Granger back as well.

Me too. We should be happy that 2 playoff bound teams played instead of lottery teams.

Agree.  Tayo lang yata ang 3rd world country na pinagbigyan ng NBA. So it is a privelege.  I enjoyed watching as well. And of course the presence of both Larry Bird and Kevin McHale!

That's not going to be feasible lalo na financial wise.  Dapat i-compensate mo yun mga NBA teams in replacement to how much revenue they would earn from their homecourt.  Even David Stern said as much na medyo improbable.

That's why nung 1st Quarter talagang wala palang tao.  Dumating yun iba nung 2nd half na.  Traffic pala ang culprit!!  I stand corrected...

---

But then again, I guess people should have gone to MOA way earlier since this is an NBA game.  So kung 7:00pm yun game.  Dapat yata mga 3pm nasa MOA ka na.  Talagang half day ka na sa work. Pwede naman tumambay tambay muna dun habang naghihintay.  I remember the last All Star Game with Kobe, KD, CP3, DRose.  We were at the venue 3 hours before the game.  My opinion lang.  Baka naman talaga unusual yun traffic kagabi?

Exactly my point.  Swerte mo pag nagpapasok ng maaga sa venue makita mo pa nag shooting shooting yun mga players.

Sana next time, weekend ang schedule ng NBA pre-season game dito sa PH. The next game between HOU & IND in Taiwan will surely be jampacked before tip-off because it's going to be played on a Sunday. And of course, Jeremy Lin. :)

I think malabo yan. They have very tight schedules and they will give the weekend schedule to the one that has the most profit. Hence they gave the weekend to Taiwan. Parang mga concert lang yan ng international artists on tour. Puro weekdays ang schedule sa Pinas and weekends would go to Singapore, Malaysia or HKG

the traffic yesterday was really unusual, aside from the sudden downpour and flooding, the mmda chose yesterday to implement new traffic routes, closing off several major u-turn slots adding to the confusion, kung di talaga nagbaha yesterday kahit lumabas ka 5pm from work, worst-case scenario on or before halftime andun ka na, kahapon nga lang ng sunduin ko anak ko, the usual 5-10mins driving time to get there took me all of an hour and a half, add to that the traffic slog pauwe, I didn't even get to watch the game on cable :(

yung brother ko nga lang who works sa call center, pasok nya midnight, it only takes him 10mins to get to work, was surprised meron heavy traffic at midnight, na late sya sa office by more than an hour  :'(

sinabi mo pa! bwahahaha, nakita na nila nag traffic dahil sa baha, they chose yesterday mag hard line in implementing the new routes, nasa news yan kahapon, nanghabol pa sila ng mga sasakyan pinipilit daanan yung closed u-turn slots , dapat malayo pa lang sa u-turn slot may signs na closed na yun (better yet, announce na nila yan sa news outlets and social media at least a week in advance), sanay na sanay na yung mga tao dumaan dun bigla sarado pala, ayun! traffic na dahil sa baha at ulan, dagdag mo pa pagkalito saan ka dadaan
