Those are ok bro.  So these bigs w/ potential are more likely to have a career similar to those players.  Or at best that of Hibbert, Mutombo or Randolph....the question now would be are they worth the number 1 pick?

If I was a GM, and I knew for sure that the player that I picked at no. 1 is gonna end up with a career like Hibbert or Mutombo, I think he'll be worth it.

I'm not comparing him to the Dream. I'm just saying that Embiid could either become an Olajuwon or Kandiman type of player in the NBA, depending on how he develops his game. (Star or bust)

For top 5

High risk/high reward based on Pure potential - Wiggins and Embiid
Low risk based on available skills/talent - Randle, Parker, Smart

Embiid is somewhere in between, hopefully he's more Hakeem than Kandi-Man. Really impressed by what I've seen so far.

Meron pang isang emerging draft prospect -- si Zach Lavine. Russell Westbrook with shooting skills daw  ;D

yeah, Lavine looks like a top 10 prospect. Pero we all know what happens with white guys who are scorers in college. haha they don't really pan out that well in the NBA level. Adam Morrison anyone? haha

Kaya pag white guy prospect, might as well pick an athletic black guy instead.

Also, kawawa yung top talent na mapupunta sa small market team like Bucks. (or should I say kawawa yung Bucks once iwanan na sila ng talent na yun?) haha

Ako I'm torn.  But as history has shown, these bigs with potential end up at best complimentary pieces to a franchise player even if they turn out to be all star players.  Hhhhmmm.... I'll probably go with a player that can turn into a franchise player down the road.

The few games I've seen Marcus Smart play, I was impressed ...... he'll probably land somewhere in the 5th-12th spots in the next NBA draft. Whoever lands him, gets a known commodity.

He's a scoring PG, much like Eric Gordon from a few years ago - though having better range and a quicker handle.

Embiid hinted at this interview that he might stay in school to polish his game:

Quote
Embiid, who has risen to be the standout #1 pick by most people above other prospects, has been researching bigs that stayed around in college in comparison to bigs that have left right away:

"I was curious because I want to be great, I want to be the best at my position one day," he said. "I'm trying to learn everything and what other people did. All of the great big men went to college at least two or three years. I think it's a big factor. I don't know if it will always work, but I think it's the best choice."

Source: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/10320046/kansas-joel-embiid-come-nowhere-become-perhaps-nation-best-freshman[1]

He makes a good point. Most of the great post players spent at least 3 years in college.

Shaq - 3 years in college
Hakeem - 3 years
Malone - 3 years
Kareem - 3 years
Duncan - 4 years
Admiral - 4 years

Also, kawawa yung top talent na mapupunta sa small market team like Bucks. (or should I say kawawa yung Bucks once iwanan na sila ng talent na yun?) haha

Sa tingin ko maganda ang future ng Bucks. Magaling silang mag evaluate ng talent sa draft kahit na puro mid-round lang ang picks nila. (Sanders/Henson/Antenokounpo).

Nets playing very well, they can even inch their way to gain the 3rd seed in the East.
Too bad Knicks still can't get their bearings on but I'm still hoping they can snatch the 8th seed.

do you think Lance Stephenson be an all-star this year? What about Lillard?

Lillard most definitely ...... moreso with CP3's absence.

As for Stephenson, it's borderline since there are a few other notable SG's out EAST e.g. Afflalo, Derozan, J.Johnson, etc having relatively good seasons.

No doubt both should be included in the All Star Game this season.
They're both spectacular with their performances this season.

If I were to pick one of those Stephenson should be the one. He's an all around player and leads the league in triple doubles this year.

^ Not that Stephenson isn't deserving, I'd prefer Afflalo a bit more.

For the season, Afflalo is averaging 21/5/5 ...... with 2FG% at  & 3FG% in the high 40's ..... FT% at more than 80% ...... All-Star reserve numbers in my book.

Afflalo has the burden of playing with a young and inexperienced crew ....... poor record aside, its clear that Afflalo is the MAGIC's leader.

Oh I forgot about him... even John Wall. But if Vogel will coach the East this year he will get Stephenson 3 from Mia 3 from IND.

Vogel though as any other coach, is not allowed to vote for their own players as reserves.

For unfair reasons, its Oden ....... crippling injuries did him in. Good luck to him on his (probably) last shot in the NBA.

The latest top pick Bennet appears to be a dud ....... one more season like this, and Ill call him a bust.

I think it's just hard to pass on Tall/centers since they are scarce. But may maka chamba din naman like drafting Howard and Blake Griffin

grabe tong Magic and Celtics kung magtank. haha

Lalo na yung Celtics. Up 18 coming into the 3rd and they squander it all to go to OT. Hope they get screwed again sa draft. I remember they tanked to get Duncan and then again to get Oden or Durant. Hope they get a bust.haha

Don't know if the Magic are really tanking on purpose. I've seen them play and there were a lot of times when they were in the game but lost during the crucial times. They don't have any closers or clutch players. As for the Celtics it's in Danny Ainge's DNA

I made that comment before the start of OT.

Did you watch the game? They tried to give it away. Gortat missed a free throw in OT that could've given the Wizards the lead, Sullinger then rebounds and burns time off the clock just standing there not calling a timeout to set a play. Fortunately or unfortunately(for their tanking agenda) for them, the Wizards did not defend the last play well.

_____

on a different note, the Knicks just lost again. 4 straight losses. They got booed again. Melo kept chucking shots. Man, Denver must be happy seeing the Knicks lose. That Melo trade might give 'em a great young player next season. :)

You are basing it on one game where there was no Rondo, Bayless nor Bradley.  Ok given you watched before the start of OT, in retrospect....winning the game does contradict the notion of tanking.

I have actually been watching the Celtics all season...not just this game. Celtics are rebuilding and are not built to win.  But you actually see the players trying to win.  Lots of players trying to prove their worth.  Lots of players on the last year of their contracts trying to play well and secure a more lucrative one next season. And lots of players trying to prove they belong in the league. Then you have a coach trying to prove he can coach and not be another statistic of coaching failures coming from the college ranks. Celtics are actually tring to win every game.  In the 2 games versus the Heat, Boston won by 1pt in the first game after rallying from 10pts then rallied from 18pts down and even lead by 2 with 3mins to go....only to lose the game with under a minute left.
