Bennett's the 1st pick in a really weak draft wherein most of the top prospects are either injured (Len, Noel), flamed out (Shabazz) or staying in school/Europe (Smart/Saric/Mcgary) --- a draft class so weak that if the NBA re-did the draft today, some greek kid who played in a not-so-competitive league in Europe might get picked first.

He also started the year injured, with no summer league or training camp, and is playing out of position in a team full of 4s...nah, still too early to call a bust.

Pacers reportedly are about to sign Andrew Bynum.

According to ESPN.com, the Pacers are planning to sign center Andrew Bynum, who was recently waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bynum, 25, spent last season with the 76ers but didn't appear in a single game due to injury. He played in 24 games for the Cavs, averaging 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds, but had some issues with the roster and coach Mike Brown, which led to him being suspended, and eventually waived.

Why the Pacers, though? With Roy Hibbert and Ian Mahinmi already in place, where does Bynum fit? Here's my theory: They did it just to keep him away from the Heat.

Obviously Pacers want more ceiling and pound on the Heat's "small ball" weakness.

Bynum is really more of an insurance than a back up. The main back up is Mahinmi. Aside from being lazy, Bynum would be lost on how the Pacers play. Indiana is more or less running on all cylinders already. He might see time though during blow outs and garbage time. And more importantly, he doesn't go to the heat.

ESPN reports that PHX is mulling a trade with LAL for Pau Gasol. I have a feeling this will push through - or at the very least, the Suns will use Okafor's contract to pull off a trade before the deadline on Feb 21 and acquire a proven frontcourt player. Parang 'yun talaga kulang sa line-up nila.

I read this about the Bynum signing.

His new teammates aren't going to let him distract them from their focus. That was the overwhelming signal they sent with their first reaction to his signing. They've made it clear that they don't believe they need Bynum -- but at the same time they'll welcome him if he is willing to contribute.

Good for Pau as the Lakers are really getting no where with D'Antoni as coach.
Like I said before, they better start rebuilding like the Celtics.

Pau loves Los Angeles. So I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with the Clippers next year for the MLE. Another chance for a ring, coached by Doc Rivers and he gets to stay in LA.
