Thanks, Gino.

Similar, for me, DIY is therapy.  I always turn in at night exhausted but blissful.
I'd rather add life to my years than years to my life.

Since I foresaw I'd be very busy the coming days, worked extra to make this project presentable.  Sprayed water-based Deft polyurethane on the case, oiled and waxed the table, oiled the stand.  My soldering skills are really bad.  Can't remove the old pot with broken shaft so just glued it for now.

SWMBO went out on some errands.  So I went and assembled everything in the dining room where she loved to work.  When she arrived, I had some nice Noel Cabangon music playing.

Disaster struck.

She saw the whole set-up and I could see revulsion in her face.

As it turns out, she has always wanted that space clear and open.  I knew about it but thought the music in that space would change her mind.

Ahhh...well.  Sometimes, surprises you contrive turn out surprising you in a bad way.

Took down the whole thing and almost burned them in the garage.  Wala lang akong posporo...didn't smoke.

Day after, I guess SWMBO realized how much effort I put into it.  I found that she assembled everything but in different places.

She put the sound system in the family room:

She put the table in the living room:

I guess I'll have to be content with that.

Here're some more photos of the still-unfinished amp.  Still have to get that pot replaced and put some glass around the torroidal transformer and, pag sinipag, some blue LEDs.

I'd rather add life to my years than years to my life.

I am speachless. A horrible end to a magnificent plan. I believe this is grounds for annulment.

Yeah. Annulment from the gears.  ;D

Feeling ko kulang pa sa "style" kay wifey si master Balarila. madaming experts dito sa PDvd pagdating sa mga ganyang process on how to make SWMBO appreciate or love your work. Actually may thread pa nga yan dito. Hindi ko lang makita.

Ahhh...well.  At least we'll still enjoy the (unappreciated- sniff) fruits of my labor.

Before:

After

Stock Sakura photo yung original.  Looked exactly as mine except the base of the tubes of mine are black.

BTW, that table also came out great on the finish. Tiyagaan lang sa sanding then aging, then oil. Also used the Rennaisance Wax I had for sometime now. That wax instantly hardens with a light sheen so no oily finish to wipe off:

First dibs on the table.

Ha-ha.  It may not be fully appreciated.  But I doubt if I'll let it go.

Thanks for all the compliments!

How did the amp get into the case?

How did the amp get into the case?

The case is "hubo".  :)

It has a plywood bottom so you just unscrew the bottom then slip the case onto the amp.  Tricky part is making sure the protruding top part of the amp's face plate inserts into the groove inside the top part of the case's face.

But before all that, one needs to screw in the transformer case which screws from he inside, same way as the old one.
