Guys.

Pasakay nalang sa thread... Naka deeco 12awg ako na swan brand ata ito less than 40pesos mer meter and it sounds good naman. Would it sound better if i upgrade to branded ones? Budget is mga 70php max per meter.. Any recommended? Amplifier ko is a vintage pioneer 125wrms dsx901s and wharfedale diamond 155 floorstand.
Differences in perceived sound arising from speaker cable upgrades are system dependent. Some systems change sound quality when cables are swapped out to better ones however some don't. Know your system first and familiarize yourself in what it can and can't do. A cable upgrade won't solve speaker deficiencies or mask amplifier limitations if there are to begin with. Borrow cables or at least audition cables in your own system before buying so that your investment is warranted if you like how it sounds.

sana merong pwedeng demo sa house para matest talaga ang difference

We done it a lot of times last 2011-2012 with Stagea and Billabong in his system. Pwede mo din naman i-try sa system mo and invite friends to come along for the A/B test.

Normally sa two channel music lang nman metikoloso ang tunog. Kung may center at surrounds ka, kahit di mo na palitan kasi 12awg nman na gmit mo. May changes sa tunog kapag nagpalit ka from copper to silver. (Experience ko lang). Pero mahal din silver. Kung konti lang diff ng budget mo at copper pa rin, better u stick to your cable and theres nothing wrong with your cable.

If you want changes, upgrade the source and speaker.. ;D

Just my 2 sinko.

Nope. Nag-test lang kami ng mga wires ni Paul and sa akin. Actually, tinitignan namin which one ang masbagay sa system namin. It's not night and day difference but it is discreetly audible.

Una ko napansin when I changed my speaker wires is the loudness.  May gain compared sa mas mura na speaker wire na dating gamit ko.

same here. Big difference from using those generic 16awg wires to when i changed it to paololorenzo's DIY cables.

I currently use Ixos 6003 for my fronts and center speakers.

In the 12 years (!!  ;D )that have passed since my purchase of the Ixos, is there any new technology in speaker wires that should make me want to buy new ones?

IMHO, old or new technology could be the same, it's the quality materials used and method of production that matters most. Matching with the gears also be considered, (have experienced it between popular brands).

Your present cable should be checked of any discoloration inside the dielectric if transparent, it could be signed of oxidation on wires. Coppers tend to oxidize when exposed to different elements in our environment.

despite what the adds say, technology is simply copper and plastic, nothing newer than this, so you have no worries...

many time we post just to get confirmation of our beliefs, i'd say if you are happy with your cables,
it won't matter what others will say, just stay happy.....:D

@audiojunkie,

I'll check this weekend, thanks!

I need to buy new wires because I'll be transferring my old set up (just a receiver + L/R/C speakers) to our house in the province. just can't decide whether to buy "branded" speakers or the regular ones, and whether to use the new wires in my current set up or in the old set up. might be time for a change and use the new wires, whatever I decide to buy, in my new set up.

That will be agood opportunity for you to try different wires. You can also use a flat cord as a speaker wire. Chek mo if there is a difference in your system. Kung walang difference, then its good for you. No need to buy expensive wires.

It's really difficult to recommend a specific brand.

Best is to set a budget and go to higher brand/models as fund permits but do not throw the used/old ones. Keep the old for reference.  In the future, when you have new gears try the old ones baka ok sya.

It's synergy play, it's a mix of gears, combi of warm, neutral, bright, from amp to speaker to CDP to IC to speaker wire.

Choosing a speaker wire is part of the journey.

At the end of the day, check if you are happy with what you are hearing.

 :)
