oo kapal ng stranded wires sa loob, I also like the shield, sinubukan kong iparallel sa power cable ko, no interference at all compare doon sa isang gamit kong speaker wire na pag nakaparallel sa power cable ramdam agad yung pagbabago sa SQ.

anong klase pala yung plating niyan doon sa conductor? i guess hindi silver yun.

"tin plating".....
the shield is also used to make an extension of your chassis,
as you can connect the shield to the metal part of your chassis,
in my case,  decided to just leave them alone....
i am lazy to measure capacitance and inductance with this one,
perhaps the next cables will have a chassis earthing lead....

from another forum.....ping camotecue, would you like to try this one? ;)
this "tube from Hell" is even cheaper than the 4P1L.....
i think i have half a dozen of these $1 tubes from my recent tube acquisition...
time to re-core the other pair of traffos you gave me...

I think everyone is PM'd so far.

Here are the triode curves for the tube from Hell:
Pic1:
10 mA/ div Vert.
50 V/div Horiz.
1 V grid steps

You can throw out those 300B's now.

the scope pic shows a very linear tube...

Hi Sir Tony,
Is there any way for me to further mod my 2A3C amp or preamp?  I'm very satisfied with your babies but it's part of human nature to always try to attain perfection.  Thanks!

Sir Tony, a question which I hope you can shed information.
If a 6sn7 tube is cable to handle both left and right audio channels in the pre-amp stage, why do designers of tube gears use one tube each for the left and the right channels?

Really a question of curiosity. Thank You.

you can by choice use just one 6SN7 tube for both channels, that is doable...
the 6J5 is like a 6sn7 with just one plate in a bottle...
reason that most designs use two sections is that the first section is used
as gain stage in a common cathode circuit, gain of about x10,
while the second section is used as a cathode follower, gain of about x0.9...

the cathode follower has low output impedance that it can drive interconnects very easily....
the 6sn7, the 6cg7 and the 12au7 are siblings and suitable for line stage since its mu,
or amplification factor is not that high...the 6dj8 otoh can operate at lower voltages....

more detailed explanation by John Broskie...http://www.tubecad.com/2009/03/blog0161.htm

Thank you for the reply. I asked because it is very irritating when the the left and the right tube are not matched/or not evenly rated. The singer tends to veer on the more powerful tube. It is when I wondered why not just make the pre-amp stage one tube so that it will always be even.

Now I learned why two(2) tubes are used for gain stage.

no two tubes are exactly alike in characteristics,
that is why i do not subscribe to the notion of "matched tubes".....
afaik, no such thing with tubes, get 100 samples and you will be lucky to find a pair...
even the two sections of a tube will never match 100% they can come close but never 100%
luckily there are circuit techniques that can mitigate these effects...
so if someone sells me a matched pair, i run away.....;)

sir tony,
