DNY40W second build....chasis already poweder coated...

partial assembly, power supply and speaker protection, installed and tested, confirmed working...

VSPS phonohead....AIKIDO preamp, DNY40W power amp, playing...
set-up: VSPS phono head to 6RHH2 aikido, output to 7n7/6h8c aikido,
then two dvd players to this aidkido, then finally to the DNY40W power amp....

VSPS phono trivia....i loaned this unit to an audiophile along with rc4558, lm4652, opa2134, ne5532 chips....guess what, he liked the ne5532 the best....

sir Tony yun bang nasa akin na PCB yang VSPS? Nakatabi pa yun sa mga gamit ko naiwan dyan. Need ko ngayon dito kasi phono stage eh baka pede pa PM ng diagram baka pede ko point to point wiring gamit vero board PCB...

yes, gamit sa mga motorcycles at even sa mga kotse...
pwede syang pang high temp. although malamig ang mga traffo ko...

installed small aluminum heatsinks for the VAS ang the big CCS to keep them cooler...

tested the boards for output offset and set it to 0mV....idle current set to minimum...
series lamp tester used here...

wiring up after confirming boards...

a quad of japanese version of the 7189/el84/6bq5: 6R-P15
drop in replacement....pictured on top...
below is 8 and 10 volt versions of the 6BQ5....
i am making a pp amp ala dynaco sca35 with these tubes...
the quad of 8BQ5 i am going to give to Edrel...
so the finished amp will be able to use either a quad of the 6R-P15
or the quad of the 10BQ5's with just a jumper setting change...
also contemplating putting in a russian 6P15P option too...

i am building a pp amp, but with slightly lower power at 20 watts to ensure long tube life,
Shuguang has new production versions of these tubes but costs around 4500 pesos per tube...

powering up.....amp is now in class B, not inclined to listen to it yet...
will bias the output to about 50mA each so that the 19watt idle power increases to 39watts.

setting up for output trannie bias current...
i installed the to 0.33 ohm resistors to have dog ears so i can clip test leads easily..

readings accross the resistors for 50mA idle current...

final reading of 29 watts from an initial reading of 19 watts..
so that the output stage now dissipates 10 watts..

a look inside with the lid on...

baka mahabol ko pa this december yung 4D32 na single ended, enhanced triode mode...
para doon yung mga trafos na binalutan ng itim....

now that i have two sets of identical gain power amps, i can now try an honest to goodness bi-amping,
just like we did in the 90's before i went overseas as an OFW...
