The refs making their presence felt this Game 3 ...... as expected, mabilis ang pito kapag ROS ang nasa depensa.

Great back and forth runs from both teams.

nice esacape win by san mig,i thought ros will win posting several 8 pt lead in the second and third quarter,j yap getting into foul trouble early and paul lee getting hot.smcm showed their composure getting contributions on de vance, sangalang scoring  and pingris with those great passes and yap kept them in the game scoring 11 pts i think in the third quarter.best player pa pala si de vance,i was criticizing early because he couldn't capitalize on his mismatches on the post, yun pala ni rereserve lang nya sa endgame  :).pingris really improved a lot under tim cone,i never thought he could be a weapon in the triangle because he has no outside shooting but he makes up for it by dishing beatiful passes.i was also surprised on sangalang, meron talagang moves sa low post.and cone rewards him by giving playing time which he seldom gives to rookies.
si barroca talagang hirap this series kasi malalaki pg ng ros, unlike nung bgk series na napopostehan nya mga pg of other team, hehe

yup,23 ft attempts ros  compared to 16 by smcm.i thought pabor sa ros tawag ng mga refs early in the game.

Not a very good play designed by Yeng this time, haba pa natira mga 10 secs pa, tapos they settled for a 3-point shot, 1 point lang naman ang lamang ng San Mig Coffee. Dami pa nila natira timeout. Confident pa naman ako na may magandang play na gagawin ang RoS kagaya noong game 1.

ROS wasn't able to execute well down the wire.
Devance was eating up his defender and Barroca went aggressive when Chris Tiu was guarding him.
ROS needs to match up with Devance coz for many moments, it was Paul Lee guarding him.
Dapat si Norwood ang magbantay but he's so busy chasing James Yap all the time.

Anyway I expect ROS to play more aggressively tomorrow night Game 4 and tie the series.

I'm also surprised and impressed with Sangalang's post moves.
Never thought he can play the post that well coz many Big Men nowadays are mostly trained to play facing the basket instead of the traditional back to the basket pivoting moves.

Sangalang has had those post moves before joining the PBA. I remember saying this about Sangalang a few days after the draft.

Sangalang is still better than Almazan. He's shorter but he's still a pretty good rebounder. Di rin naman siya takot makipagbanggaan. His defense is also decent. He may not be blocking shots as much as Almazan does but he can hold his own. Yung lamang talaga ni Sangalang is that he has a post game. Matalino maglaro, very adaptable at maganda ang foot work. If he bulks up, he has the potential of becoming a Sonny Thoss type of player.

This has been a very close series, games decided on the last shot save for Game 2. But if you think about it, this series could have been over already if San Mig didn't bungle that last play in Game 1.

ros was supossed to have  better players coming off the bench, but in this series pinapakita nila mallari, sangalang, melton and barocca na it's not about quantity but quality.props again to sangalang hindi sya na iintimidate sa mga bigs ng ros.also it's nice to see barocca broke out of his scoring slump.

Game 4 decided at the closing minutes, yet again ....... ironically, its ROS that looking tired at the clutch the last 2 games.

Barocca, can have a series of no-show games ..... but when he gets going, hard to stop this guy.

I've always said, that a case can be made for him to go #1 during the 2011 draft (not over Casio, Lee & Lassiter though). He's tough as nails ...... always had that Johnny-A vibe to his game e.g. pull-up, great handle, etc.

The bench of SMC really outplayed the bench of ROS.
Again very impressive game by Sangalang playing the post despite Pingris out the entire 4th kanto due to injury.
Melton and Mallari also played great off the bench.
Barroca what more can I say. He's lucky he's with Tim Cone and SMC otherwise his career will just be like that of fellow Tamaraw Dennis Miranda who becoz of too much shuffling at Petron didn't really blossom into his potential as a point guard in the PBA.

ROS didn't play with the intensity they are known for.
Gabe Norwood never really develop his offensive game all throughout his tenure at ROS.
He's inconsistent with his jump shots not to mention treys but also medium range shots and even very awkward attacking the basket.
He's obviously a poor offensive player by heart as he never really shown improvements ever since.

Indeed Barroca is lucky that he's playing under Tim Cone ..... though with his overall game, Barroca can be a great fit under some of the other PBA coaches (except ultra-loaded teams PETRON, BGK & TnT).

The genius of Tim Cone - he recognized that Barroca is franchise-PG material, thus he systematically dealt most of his scoring PG's (ex. Villanueva, R. Yap, Urbiztondo, etc) for Barroca to ease into the lead PG role.

If Barroca was with a team like PETRON or BGK, expect him to have limited minutes due to the unli-superstar approach these teams employ.

Beg to differ on Denok Miranda though, his game had already peaked during his tenure with STA LUCIA ..... even winning a championship with them. To begin with, there's not much to develop with a PG like Denok. These ground-based PG's (ex. Esplana, Arboleda, etc) are usually seen as having slow handles & limited moves, albeit tough and strong.

One last thing, luck didn't play any part in Mark Barroca landing with the SAN MIG franchise (then known as BMEG LLAMADOS) ....... Barroca's draft rights originally belonged to the AIR21/SHOPINAS team.

Of course, everyone knows that AIR21 is owned and managed by the greatest pimps in PBA history - Bert "Pimp Daddy" Lina and Lito Alvarez.  ;)

Pansin ko lang kay Gabe Norwood kagabi parang walang guts to take the winning shot. Okey lang din naman na pinasa sya kay Lee, pero  kung tinira nya 'yun okey lang din saken kung hindi ma-shoot at least alam ko na may gigil na manalo.

Baka sa Sunday naka goggles na si Pingris.

Marc Pingris ‘OK now’ after suffering superficial eye abrasion, says wife’s cousin
InterAksyon.com · Friday, February 21, 2014 · 11:04 pm

San Mig Super Coffee Mixers fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the team’s star forward Marc Pingris’ eye injury is nothing serious.

“Marc Pingris is okay now. It was just a superficial abrasion :) goodnight everyone,” wrote Mara Isabel Sotto on her Twitter account. Sotto is a cousin of Pingris’ wife Danica.

The hardworking forward suffered the injury in the third quarter of Game Four of the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup finals after accidentally getting poked in the right eye by Rain or Shine center JR Quinahan.

He was subbed out before eventually leaving the bench to go to the hospital. Despite his absence, San Mig Coffee managed to win the game to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup finals series.

According to the Mayo Clinic website, a corneal abrasion is the most common type of eye injury.

“Corneal abrasions can be painful. If your cornea is scratched, you might feel like you have sand in your eye,” says the website. “Tears, blurred vision, increased sensitivity or redness around the eye can suggest a corneal abrasion.”

tim cone is really known for picking the best pg,remember he already has a rising pg in quilban before abbarientos became available in the draft.already had one of the best pointguard in cortez when he decided to trade him for tenorio (he could not get his game going in a talent laden team in smb)i remeber na walang substitute pg noon ang alaska,it is by design said tim cone para ma feel ni tenorio that he commands that team.ganun din tiwala ngayun ni cone kay barroca, although he comes off the bench sya naman ang pg hangang matapos ang laro, kahit masama shooting nya hindi sya nilalabas ni cone
