Thanks for chiming in.
Is the php10k, more or less, price difference between the LG LED and the other brands (Haier, Skyworth, Devant, etc.) worth it?
Aside from a more reputable brand, am I getting any other. Benefit from getting a LG instead?
Thanks.
That depends on the unit. The 50" LG you're talking about has extensive ISF picture calibration settings, but other than that similar models from TCL and Skyworth have inherently better picture quality. Try taking a look at the Skyworth 50E66 and TCL's Android Smart TV models which are priced around or lower than the LG. My main caveat with Chinese brands is the usually crappy looking OSD/menu. Pros are, they're cheap and some brands like TCL and Skyworth have two years warranty (parts and service).
If you want high IR receiver sensitivity or strong IR blasters on the remote (kahit hindi tapat na tapat ang remote sa IR reeceiver ng TV), you should go for a Japanese brand like Panasonic. Most TVs from either Korean and Chinese brands need you to aim directly at the IR receiver for the remote to respond. The TCL Android Smart TVs I tried had good remotes though, kahit hindi tapat na tapat sa receiver.
If you're going to use the TV in mostly a darker environment or where you can control lighting, I seriously suggest the Samsung P51F5000 at Abensons instead. Mine's already calibrated and no LED TV near (heck, even twice) its price can touch its picture quality.
