Hi there newb here, need a 50inch tv. Not really interested in smart or 3D. Choosing between LG 50ln5400, samsung 51f5000 (but scared of consumption and plasma phase out), sharp 50le440 and toshiba 50l2300.

Leaning towards the LG. Websites state that it has trumotion120 hz, but in ansons it only says mci100.  Can anyone clarify this? Also websites state it has optical out but here in phils it doesnt. What a bummer? Any work around that?

Any comments and suggestions would greatly be appreciated frds! Thank you thank you.

jofo1019... Among your selections... i'd either go with the LG or Samsung models...

Both are good and respectable brands... Plus they both offer 2 years warranty...

My only suggestion is to buy them at reputable stores like SNS or other big appliance stores...

Make sure to ask for the stores replacement policies if your unit exhibits defects within 7days :D

Good luck :D  50Inch Flat screens are very affordable these days:D

F5000 is a bang for buck unit. The wattage is not as advertised, 300W. You actually consume lower than that. As per owners (in another thread) the consumption is around 100W. This is still higher than the LEDs 50-70w but it is also not 300w

The other consideration is what you're going to use it for? If it is more for movies and cable watching, plasma will give you a better experience. But if you will be placing yhe unit in a well lit room (windows, direct sunlight etc.) you will have some challenges with the Samsung's F5000.

I have the same sentiments regarding the LG 50LN5400 and the Samsung 51F5000. both are good tv's. so just flip a coin and weigh your needs. ;)

btw, I've seen the Sharp 50LE440 and I find its PQ as grainy/ noisy.  :-\   the really good Sharp led tvs start from 70" up. as for the Toshiba 50", I haven't had a good look at one to comment on it.

I was at anson's makati yesterday and also checked out the sharp 50 incher. Same observation. Pq is really bad. I don't know if its the same model you mentioned but parang nga the same.

Thanks for the replies! Went with the LG, was able to get it from Ansons landmark for 36.5k for anyone thats interested. Just ask for Sir Abe.

Anyway, its pretty good for the price. Standard stuff. No trumotion, and slight motion blur. But cant beat the price for a 50inch led i guess. With tvs, its true that size does matter haha!  And once you calibrate picture settings, its PQ gets pretty good. :)
