Topic: Help me decide if I should buy

I am contemplating of getting a sony ta-v88es which is on sale in the market (not pinoydvd). It is not a surplus but was used sparingly by an audiophile. My problem is that when I researched the net for review I cannot find any review. Another problem is that this av intergrated amp is only AC3 (DOLBY DIGITAL) not DTS. But according to the seller, "the concept of dts and digital special sound overlaps with various manufacturer and how sound tracks are encoded and decoded is pretty covered by this amp." I'm not sure about his comment because I'm just a casual listener. I'm not interested in buying the newer version of av receiver with the dtshd and other surround features. All I want is just a solid surround sound for movie viewing (dts encoded amp is important to me) and music listening. Kindly, help me decide on this. By the way, the price of this amp is 8.5k

for that price, i think you can get better av receivers. check the marketplace for onkyo, denon, pioneer, marantz or harman kardon. all of the ones being advertised here can play dts and ac3.

Wala naman akong makita or maintindihan din kung ano ibig sabihin niya sa "overlapping". Sa current trend ng audio decoding/encoding ng movies, for me, DTS is a must. Paano kung walang Dolby digital yun pinapanuod mo, pro-logic ka na lang? DTS is also widely used nowadays.

Yeah. For that price, baka dagdag ka na lang ng kaunti, bnew entry level Pio na din ang makuha niya. Most likely, 3D and HD audio capable pa.

you can get a pioneer 822 or elite 40 here for only 9k. 500 lang dagdag mo, it can encode dd and dts na. baka nga makuha mo pa sa 8.5k.
