Thanks for the advice. I will be looking to that soon!

It is just matress foam. For P790, I thought I'd experiment first with crude placements if it really helped room acoustics. And it did. So I changed it to real acoustic foam.  Sayang naman if I throw the matress foam so I decided to put it in the ceiling. It is so badly cut using just a cutter and scissors to clean up. Good thing no one really looks at the ceiling.   Here it is:

I'm expecting it today. I will post pictures once it is here and installed.  I'm not so interested in the bass since I already have a subwoofer. I am just hoping I can integrate it seamlessly with my new speakers.

Also, the carpenter was in the house today, I had my bed "lowered" so that when I sit down in the middle, my ears will be in tweeter height.

Thanks to all for checking this out and giving your insights. They are much appreciated.

I am sure it will be relaxing. Now it is still stress setting it up and figuring out the sub settings and putting all the sound panels.

Where in Cebu? What do you have in your system?

UPDATE 3/16/2014
-Got my new speakers - the KEF LS50! (meaning I had to return the Peachtree D4 I borrowed)  Initial impression is that the Peachtree is really good in its own way but the KEF is just something else.

-Made the bed shorter so when I sit down on the bed, my ears are tweeter level. Also want it shorter so if I watch tv my legs don't get in my line of sight.

Right now I am experimenting on the optimal subwoofer settings.  In the far future, I'd be looking for a preamp since I am just using the preamp section of my NAD.  Perhaps a DAC Preamp like the Emotiva DC-1.

I'm also in the looking for some voltage regulators or line conditioners.

So here is my system right now:

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

Part of this madness is in tuning it the right way. My room dimensions always had a bump in the 40 Hz to 50 Hz range and the SPL meter proved that.  So I measured everything using Stereophile test tone from test cd#2, applied the correction/calibration values and tried to find the best bass response.

The nice thing about the LS50 is the port plugs. It's not just sealed and non-sealed. There is an option where you get the middle part out of the port plug so it is still hollow like a donut. I found that worked best with my setup.  Right now I am using that way of plugging the port with the sub set at level 3 and crossover at the 23rd spot. I lose a bit of the low end 30Hz and below, but it will still be there and I will have a relatively flat frequency response across the board. I put it all in excel file.

It's a good thing I ended up with the KEF's because it is the only speaker I know whose port plugs have 2 settings so there is added versatility.  MY initial impressions are that they are good, but that is something I need to post in the appropriate forum.

Next mission: Nice voltage regulators, and long term "want" (and not a "need") would be a nice pre-amp dac.

I got it from a local foam supplier who also happened to have acoustic foams. I just had it cut to my preferred sizes.  I installed it using back to back 3M tape.

Welcome to the gallery!

Sarap naman nyang LS50s.

Heard it paired with an MF integrated at AVX in Harisson Plaza. For something dimunitive it sounds really big yet nimble.

I always had a soft spot for KEF's Uni-Q systems ever since listening to the old school Q50s of our neighbor in Pasay, then when they upgraded to the KEF XQ10s.

Drivers of the LS50s are at the same league as that on the Blade which is ranked up there in high heavens.

Again thanks for the comments. I am really enjoying the sound of this, having dialed in the sub settings.

From the usual pop/rock music I listen to, I have found myself getting more diverse trying out some jazz and dance/club music.  The speakers don't sound fatiguing at all.

Also have to add that my speaker stands are Sabre WS at 75cm or 30 inches.  I love the fact that you can do cable management on these speaker stands - meaning putting the cables inside to keep it neat and tidy.  But because of the hole in the bottom for the speaker cables, I am not sure if you can still fill this up with sand.

My AV Rack is Sabre Nautilus which also has it's own cable management system.

Really liking the sound of this, that I don't really have any urge at the moment to change my integrated amp (NAD C340 that's I'm using as a preamp) to a preamp or DAC/preamp.

Might be difficult to find an R500 here in Cebu. Maybe if you come over, or if I visit there.

*** UPDATE 4/9/2014 **********

I just added a Precision Voltage Regulator. I think the digital display makes it look cool.  But it is also really big and heavy.  Not sure if I mentioned this before, but compared to early on - I removed the silver aluminum accents on my amplifier.

Imarflex AVR from Classic Hi Fi in Ayala Cebu. They don't stock it so they had to special order it. Same price as what is advertised here.

The acoustic sound panels behind the speaker are from Dewfoam - AS Fortuna branch.  Just visit them or give them a call. It is called "Sonore Acoustic Foam."

Hope this helps.
