ni review ba? sayang hindi ako nakanood

Rineview pero they showed only one angle which was inconclusive. Though it showed Ranidel's shoes clearly beyond the 3-point line, the video replay's angle gave a doubt as to whether his toes were on the line or not. Siguro inisip ng referee na mas safe yung tawag na 2 points lang tutal magiging tied naman yung score at may time pa naman kaya di na pwedeng sabihin na the call decided the game. But subsequent plays showed that the 1 point difference would have forced Purefoods to take a 3-point shot instead of a drive to the basket to tie the game.
Incidentally, the tv panelist saw it as a 3-pointer and called it a 3-pointer and was surprised to find out it was only ruled a 2-pointer.

I watched the game last night live at the USEP gym in Davao. Right foot of Ranidel stepped on the line...

pba should select another tv station and not tv5 because tv5 favors only cignal cable as compared sa destiny cable.

This is a different angle from the one shown on TV5 right? At 6:36 yung shot ni De Ocampo. None of the referees signaled for a three point shot.

I also watched the game on TV and based on the replays they showed, Ranidel's left foot was behind the line ....... admittedly, for some reason, my TV signal wasn't the best that game.

Now, this one bugs me a bit ...... not one ref signaled a three (one-hand up signal), yet not one ref signaled that his feet was on the line as well (one hand-down signal). In fact, not one ref was near the vicinity of Ranidel.

AFAIK, 3-point shots (signaled or not) are reviewable. Since the only available replay angle showed Ranidel's left foot being behind the line - how come the refs did not call it a 3pt basket, after the review.

Maybe, it's some quirk on the rules e.g. initial call was no 3 point, then it stands since video was inconclusive or no video of the right side (?) ....... or maybe, it's about Jong Uichico's claims that refs have always "favored" SMCorp teams during crucial stages.  ;)

This was the actual tv footage, pun intended, of Ranidel's shot. They never showed this angle during the review. They only showed the other angle.

Nothing to see here brader ...... matagal nang ganyan si Belga. In fact, this has been the norm in the PBA since Cheato Salud took over.

Madaming gumagawa niyan e.g. Belga, Tubid, Arana, Ranidel, Abueva, Duncil, Baroca, etc.

Daming napipikon na BGK fans, which is very ironic, considering that just a few seasons ago, they had Tubid in their lineup ...... madami sa kanila ang hindi pa buhay nung lumilipad ang mga siko at tuhod nila Big J ang company.  ;)

Tapos 40k fine naman for Almazan.

Totally AGREE with his former coach...
http://www.spin.ph/basketball/news/calvin-abueva-luigi-trillo-alaska-meralco-jerk-pba-commissioners-cup-double-overtime-basketball

Abueva is not "turning out to be a jerk".  He IS a jerk. But he's one damn good jerk.  The only difference now is the jerk is playing against Coach Trillo.  Hence, Trillo's reaction.

As I said, Abueva is someone you will only like if he is on your side.  Otherwise, he is a guy you love to hate.

By the way, the jerk was the best player of that game with 18 pts, 9 rebs, 2 steals and that usual hustle all game long.

I watched the replay.  Parang no big deal naman yung reaction ni Luigi Trillo.  Just one of those heated moments. Ph as expected.

As for Calvin, it's a good sign that the guy is maturing.  It will be good for him if he puts more focus on his game.  And bad news for the opponents!

Yup, to be fair to Abueva, he has mellowed down greatly coming from his first 2 seasons ....... nabawasan na ang antics, moreso ang flopping.

Of course, a man's instincts will still show from time to time - very ironic lang at si Trillo ang unang nakapuna at napikon.

Trillo was ousted (ala kudeta) from ALASKA, albeit very discreetly ....... kaya may halong galit na yang puna niya kay Abueva.

Besides having favorites, Trillo had a very short rotation when he coached ALASKA ...... this caused some players to complain to higher management.

Instead of working it out (and with Joaqui Trillo already retired), Luigi Trillo was just eased out of ALASKA.

Alex Compton was a popular choice to replace Trillo - he gave playing time to everyone and results have been great ...... ALASKA was extremely close to winning the recent AFC.

Well, coaches usually do have their favorites and rotations are based on these favorites. And his results, having won a championship, are better than Compton's.  He is the son of a long time Alaska manager and add to that the fact that the Alaska management usually gives their coaches free rein over team decisions, (or was that for Cone only), there must be a deeper reason.

PBA legend slams Belga and Guiao
https://ph.sports.yahoo.com/news/pba-legend-slams-belga-guiao-184248964--nba.html

A PBA legend has expressed dismay over the antics of Beau Belga during Rain or Shine’s chaotic win over crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra last Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome. And if this were not enough, Ricardo Brown, the 1985 PBA Most Valuable Player who is residing in the US, also chastised Rain or Shine Coach Yeng Guiao in his Facebook wall.

[caption id="attachment_253474" align="alignleft" width="230"] Ricardo Brown: “Is this what the PBA has come to?”[/caption]

“Who is this guy? Are you kidding me?” he said, referring to Belga.

“Is this what the PBA has come to? Is this what the PBA fans want to see today? I’ve got news for you. This is NOT basketball at a high level and is an embarrassment to Philippine basketball. Disgraceful.”

Belga’s actions left a bitter taste in the mouth of Ginebra fans, forcing one supporter to throw a plastic bottle on the court during the fourth quarter.

On Tuesday, the former Philippine Christian University bruiser was fined P70,000 by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud but escaped suspension.

Brown also took a shot at Guiao, saying: “Who’s the Rain or Shine coach? Do you think for a second I would allow this BS if I were his coach or team manager? Good Lord. Why wasn’t he yanked and sent to the locker room? That’s on the coach, in my book.”

In a more recent posting, however, Brown was more forgiving, even offering Belga unsolicited advice.

“Flush that ‘bad boy villain’ BS down the toilet because YOU have talent to play the game the right way,” wrote Brown.

“I loved playing a physical game, banging bodies... loved it! But there is a big difference from being a physical player and a dirty player, and you know that. The real and genuine Filipino basketball fans want to be entertained with skillful, high-level, competitive basketball. Nothing more is needed.”

Pressed for comment, Belga would rather not react to Brown’s sentiments but insisted that his style of play won’t change.

“Wala na lang siguro (akong reaction) kasi pag pinatulan ko pa, hahaba lang e. Pero pagdating sa laro, kung anung klase ng laro ko, hindi ko babaguhin. Siguro bawas na lang dun sa antics o yung reactions,” Belga told the Bulletin yesterday.

“Malaki rin kasi yung fine. Minsan kasi emotional yung game, nadadala. Hindi ko alam na may bawal pala.”

Ricardo Brown is an all-time PBA great and I get what he is saying ...... BUT ....

Brown played during the golden age of the PBA - where most of the roughest and dirtiest players played as well .....ex. The whole GINEBRA team (except for Saldana, Ampalayo, etc), Big Boy, Onchie, Ramon "Pambansang Elbow" Fernandez, Rellosa, Tuadles, Frankie Lim ...... heck, even CRISPA had its fair share of dirty players.

Brown is lambasting Belga now, yet for the longest time has been seemingly ignorant and silent about the illegal tactics that SMCorp (his former franchise) uses to cheat its competition, its fans and the integrity of the game.

Maybe its because of the fact, that Danding Cojuangco was his patron from way back ...... even before he came to the PBA.   ;)

Yung Kay Belga kasi may halong antics na "suck it" tapos pati mga fans pinapatulan, doon sya nagmukhang ogag.
