PBA legend slams Belga and Guiaohttps://ph.sports.yahoo.com/news/pba-legend-slams-belga-guiao-184248964--nba.htmlA PBA legend has expressed dismay over the antics of Beau Belga during Rain or Shine’s chaotic win over crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra last Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome. And if this were not enough, Ricardo Brown, the 1985 PBA Most Valuable Player who is residing in the US, also chastised Rain or Shine Coach Yeng Guiao in his Facebook wall.

“Who is this guy? Are you kidding me?” he said, referring to Belga.
“Is this what the PBA has come to? Is this what the PBA fans want to see today? I’ve got news for you. This is NOT basketball at a high level and is an embarrassment to Philippine basketball. Disgraceful.”
Belga’s actions left a bitter taste in the mouth of Ginebra fans, forcing one supporter to throw a plastic bottle on the court during the fourth quarter.
On Tuesday, the former Philippine Christian University bruiser was fined P70,000 by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud but escaped suspension.
Brown also took a shot at Guiao, saying: “Who’s the Rain or Shine coach? Do you think for a second I would allow this BS if I were his coach or team manager? Good Lord. Why wasn’t he yanked and sent to the locker room? That’s on the coach, in my book.”
In a more recent posting, however, Brown was more forgiving, even offering Belga unsolicited advice.
“Flush that ‘bad boy villain’ BS down the toilet because YOU have talent to play the game the right way,” wrote Brown.
“I loved playing a physical game, banging bodies... loved it! But there is a big difference from being a physical player and a dirty player, and you know that. The real and genuine Filipino basketball fans want to be entertained with skillful, high-level, competitive basketball. Nothing more is needed.”
Pressed for comment, Belga would rather not react to Brown’s sentiments but insisted that his style of play won’t change.
“Wala na lang siguro (akong reaction) kasi pag pinatulan ko pa, hahaba lang e. Pero pagdating sa laro, kung anung klase ng laro ko, hindi ko babaguhin. Siguro bawas na lang dun sa antics o yung reactions,” Belga told the Bulletin yesterday.
“Malaki rin kasi yung fine. Minsan kasi emotional yung game, nadadala. Hindi ko alam na may bawal pala.”
