Not to downgrade Lebron in any way, but it's very obvious that the "weaker" East plays a part in his past two FA decisions.
Lebron & his handlers are protective of their brand & winning brings in the money ....... the East has long been the easier path to a championship, compared to the loaded West.
Can't blame Lebron much though - when the "Decision" came around, it was mostly East teams who had the cap space to offer him e.g. Cavs, Heat, Bulls, Knicks, etc ..... plus the potential to team-up with blue-chip players.
By Decision 2.0, the Cavs were brimming with young talent & the chance to go back home.
