Can this play 4k movie files?
So this answers my question, which was if I could install iFlix. Haha.Very tempted about this. I've stopped using a WD media player which I got many many years ago, because it couldn't play some files.Questions:1. Is it supposed to be installed to HDMI port in AV receiver? or on a TV? or either?2. Is this only for video - can it play music files (flac) for example?3. The main advantage over a chromecast (which I already have) would be its ability to play files stored in hard disk?
yes it can, but there's not really that much 4k files except for those coming from netflix and amazon.
Sorry what i mean is "if this can play movie files out from external hdd". Thanks
^does this mean that there are no pre-installed video players which comes with the unit? we have to download VLC or Kodi? Are these apps available from Google Play Store?
how to connect this to AVR w/o HDMI? if I use my bluetooth dongle, ma detect kaya ng AVR na DTS/Dolby yung audio and hindi lang stereo?
You'll need an audio extractor like this.
Got my Xiaomi mi box today. Installation was a breeze. Installed it via Hdmi to a Denon receiver. Testing videos from portable HD connected via USBHave question re Kodi. 1. Are there video or audio settings I must use? 2. I tried playing 1080p file with DTS track (Eagles concert in Melbourne). Video stutters and does not coincide with sound. Not 1080p quality. DTS is not displayed on receiver. It just says PCM.3. Tried playing Winter Soldier, video is a bit dark. Parang it's not 1080pI'm thinking it's a settings thingHelp anyone?Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
oh ok. looks expensive hehe. sayang wala palang optical audio out itong Mi Box
Question re audio - why is it that only PCM shows up on the display of the receiver instead of DD or DTS? (If I click info on Kodi, it says file is 5.1, DTS but display is just PCM)Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
You have to adjust hdmi pass through in the settings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
(sorry for the noob question) The settings for Xiaomi? Or the receiver?Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Congrats, Sir @sparco!Did you buy it with a data plan or outright purchase of the unit only?
thank you sir, i have a broadplan sa globe, di ko siya inavail before kasi 200 monthly. ngayon mura na, 100 na lang add sa bill, much cheaper hehe.
Not a bad deal at all to add 100 in one's bill. Plus, it has local warranty.
x x x sometimes streaming in netflix in full hd dolby digital+, i still dont have a 4K tv, matatagalan pa siguro
Update your Netflix app, if you haven't done already. The update improves adaptive streaming. Although you are not using a 4k panel at the moment, try turning on the DEEP COLOR setting in your Mi Box. You will see an improvement.
one question; is it ok if i just unplug the mi box after it went to sleep? no bad effect in the hardware or software in the long run? thanks!
So far it's been okay. I have four Mi boxes installed in four rooms. I use an outlet switch with light indicator. I also use it because my boxes have Type C plugs (round, not flat). As soon as the Mi box goes to sleep, I press the outlet switch to OFF. Two of these boxes have been under this power down routine in the last 10 months. No problems whatsoever.
